1. The government of the Republic of Korea supports the UN Security Council’s unanimous adoption of Security Council Resolution 2356 on June 3 (June 2, New York time) in response to North Korea’s continued ballistic missile launches.

2. The ROK government is of the view that the Security Council reaffirmed the international community’s firm determination to denuclearize North Korea through its latest resolution, strongly condemning North Korea’s continued activities to develop nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, and adding to the sanctions list four entities and fourteen individuals involved in such activities and securing financial resources for them.

3. The ROK government, in cooperation with the international community, will continue to faithfully implement Security Council resolutions, which is an obligation of a UN member, and make efforts towards North Korea’s fundamental denuclearization by making use of all methods, including sanctions and dialogue. The ROK government urges North Korea to stop provocations that undermine peace on the Korea Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, to heed the concerted demands of the international community, and to immediately engage in dialogue and actions for denuclearization, and hopes that North Korea will turn into a responsible member of the international community.
