1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia co-hosted the 1st ROK-Indonesia Young Leaders’ Dialogue in Jakarta, Indonesia, on October 10-11. The event was co-organized by the ASEAN Culture House operated by the Korea Foundation, and the Habibie Center in Indonesia.

° The Dialogue was launched pursuant to the agreement reached by the Presidents of the two countries during Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s visit to the ROK in September 2018 to set up a program designed to promote exchanges and networks between young generations of the two countries in various areas, including political affairs, economy and culture.

2. During the Dialogue, a total of 26 next-generation leaders of the two countries, who are working actively in diverse areas, such as politics, economy, culture and media, had robust discussions on the theme “ROK-RI Strategic Partnership: Harnessing the Potentials of the Next Generation.” By doing so, they sought new ways for bilateral cooperation, engaged in exchanges, such as by visiting relevant agencies, and thereby enhanced mutual understanding.

3. The ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will make efforts for the ROK-Indonesia Young Leaders’ Dialogue to become a networking platform, where the two countries’ next generations can have candid dialogue, communicate and thereby enhance their sense of bond and cooperation.
