 D-4 (General Trainee, Korean Language Program) Visa

We do not reply D-4 visa documents details by email. Please take a look carefully as below to prepare visa documents.

Visa issuance will be taken 3~4 weeks from the application date when you submit all requirements.
o D-4 visa can be provided as a single Visa ONLY.

  Foreigners who will stay in Korea for more than 90 days are required to apply for Residence Card at the local immigration office in Korea within 90 days of their arrival. With the Residence Card, foreigners may travel overseas during their stay in Korea and return to continue their work assignment (multiple entry available) → more information, HiKorea website (click)
o No refund and submitted documents will not be returned. (If visa applying is rejected, if your Korean school cancel semester, etc)




D-4(General Trainee, Korean Language Program) visa is for those who go to education lower than University level or do research, study or train at an educational organization, academic research centre, private enterprise and other groups that do not fall under D-2 categories.


※ Korean Language Program must be operated by Korean Language School under University.

    (No Private Korean Language Institution / Academy.)

※  List of Mandatory Required documents for D-4 Visa applicant


1. Visa Application Form : fill out e-Form (Electronic Visa Application)

    via VISA PORTAL website (https://visa.go.kr/openPage.do?MENU_ID=10204)

  - MUST PRINT OUT the e-Form (with a bar code) and FILL OUT applicant's FULL NAME & SIGNATURE on last page

  → Visiting our Embassy is required  regardless of whether or not you filled out the e-Form.


2. A color passport photo

  - Do not print by yourself, 3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within the last 6 months - front view against white or off-white background


  - If you uploaded your photo in the e-Form, you don't need to submit a physical one.


3. Original and a photocopy of Passport (should be valid at least 6 months)

4. Original and a photocopy of residence permit card (If you are other nationality living in Finland/Estonia)
  - It may require to show (available) staying period in Finland/Estonia more than 2 years depending on your nationality.


5. Visa application fee : (from 1 JULY 2023) 54.00 EUR  (cash only, it might be changed depending on your nationality.)



6. Official Certificate of Admission from host university from Korea (Acceptable scan copy, print out yourself)
7. Certificate of business registration (사업자등록증명원) of the host university from Korea (Acceptable scan copy, print out yourself)


It is also possible that Embassy may require additional documents from the applicant if seen necessary.




※ If you received Visa Issuance Confirmation Number (CVI)

   IT'S NOT APPLICATION NUMBER nor CERTIFICATE OF ADMISSION

AFTER getting the Visa Issuance Confirmation Number* from Immigration Office in the Rep. of Korea, then you can process to our Embassy.

CVI issue is responsible for Immigration Office, so please ask this office directly (VISA PORTAL website (click) / +82-2-1345, +82-2-6908-1345~6).

Q: What is Certificate for Confirmation of Visa Issuance?

  A: Some applicants of Korean visa should get the permission from the Minister of Justice before being issued a visa. For easy and quick procedure of that permission system, we have introduced a "certificate for confirmation of visa issuance".

    a. Foreign invitees can obtain visas by submitting the certificate received from Korean inviters.

    b. Inviters residing in Korea can obtain the certificate by submitting an application form and required documents at the Korean Immigration Bureau.

    c. Foreign invitees apply for a visa application form, a recent passport-type color photograph and passport, and visa fee is also required.

* NOTE

If you go to study Korean language for 90 days or less (when the school does not provide an official certificate of admission),

· if you are a national of K-ETA temporarily exempted countries, including Finland, you do not need to apply for a visa nor K-ETA (website click).

· if you are a national of K-ETA eligible countries, including Estonia, you do not need to apply for a visa, but you need to apply K-ETA certificate (website click).

· if you are not a national of K-ETA eligible countries, you need to apply a C-3 visa. → C-3 (Short-term Visiting) Visa (click)


Visa application fees are as follows : Please find the attached file for an exceptional country fee. If your country is not listed from the file, it means your fee is normal price.

· (from 1 JULY 2023) 1 USD = 0.90 EUR

· Single-entry visa for 91 days or more of staying : (from 1 JULY 2023) 54.00 EUR
