o (including Finland) If you are a national of K-ETA temporarily exempted countries and travel to the Rep. of Korea for non-profit purpose (e.g. tourism) for 90 days or less in general, you do not need to apply for a visa nor K-ETA.

o (including Estonia) Following the implementation of K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization), K-ETA eligible countries/regions who were eligible for visa-free entry now should apply for K-ETA for issuance of the boarding pass (flight or ship).
K-ETA authorization is generally valid for multiple trips (up to 90 days for Estonian Nationality per 1 trip) over a period of 3 years (starting from July 3, 2023) or until your passport expires, whichever​​ comes first (Application fee-10,000 KRW/person). K-ETA approval received before July 3, 2023, will remain valid until its expiration date.

If they want to engage in profitable activities such as employment or stay longer than 90 days, they must apply for a Korean visa suitable for their purpose.

[Information about VISA]

1) What type of VISA should I apply?
- Please visit VISA PORTAL website (visa.go.kr) to find the suitable type of visa.

2) How to apply for VISA and pick-up of VISA and passport?
(1) e-Visa (Electronic Visa) application via VISA PORTAL website (click, starting June 1, 2022)

- e-Visa application will resume. → NO need to visit Embassy for applying nor pick-up, print Visa grant paper by yourself

※ For more information regarding e-Visa, please contact Immigration Office in Republic of Korea (hikorea.go.kr +82-2-1345, +82-2-6908-1345~6). Please do not ask about e-Visa to Embassy.​

- Applicant : Application must be submitted by a foreigner or the sponsor on behalf of the foreigner.

- Applicable Status of Stay (Please refer the related information via VISA PORTAL website-How to apply e-Visa (click).)

o Professor (E-1), Researcher (E-3), Technical Instructor/Technician (E-4), Professional (E-5), Foreign National of Special Ability (E-7) visas for the applicant and Dependent Family (F-3) visas for his/her accompanying family members
 - Qualification : the applicant must be an expert in advanced science and technology and have an official employment recommendation letter (a.k.a. Gold Card)
o Short-Term General (C-3-1) visas for a potential investor in public business and his/her accompanying family members
o Medical Tourist (C-3-3) or Treatment and Recuperation (G-1-10) visas when applied by a recognized medical travel facilitator
o Business Visitor (General) (C-3-4) visas for a person who has been invited by a Korean company
 - Qualifications : A foreigner who has entered Korea 3 times or more with a Short-term (C-3) Visa since the implementation of the fingerprint confirmation system for foreigner on Jan. 1, 2012, and who has no history of illegal stay or criminal cases
o Short-Term Employee (C-4) visa for foreign scientists invited by a government-funded research institution in science and technology or an accredited university

(2) Visiting our Embassy in person

- Visiting our Embassy for applying visa is required (Mon.-Fri. 9:30-11:30 AM).
- We DO NOT have post service. However, ONLY when there is an emergency case, we may provide the post service (door-to-door pick-up service only). For emergency case, please contact us by email (korembfi@mofa.go.kr).

- When you apply visa at our Embassy, your original passport will be returned to you on the spot. This means you do not need to come back to pick-up your passport and visa also. You can print out your Visa by yourself after approval.

3) How long does VISA process take?

- Visa issuance will be taken 3~4 weeks from the application date that the required documents are submitted perfectly. This schedule might be delayed depending on other reserved schedules of consular services. Through visa screening, it might be requested you to submit additional documents or rejected to issue the visa.

- Embassy cannot be shorten visa screening period according to the visa guidelines from Ministry of Justice in Rep. of Korea.

But if you need to get the visa urgently, inviter residing in Korea should request for 'Visa Priority Screening' to the relevant Ministry in Rep. of Korea. Please ask the inviter to proceed this request (We do not receive this request at our Embassy).

4) What to submit for VISA?

(List of mandatory required documents for ALL applicants)

o Visa Application Form : fill out e-Form (Electronic Visa Application) → How to fill out e-Form (click)

    via VISA PORTAL website (https://visa.go.kr/openPage.do?MENU_ID=10204)

  - MUST PRINT OUT the e-Form (with a bar code) and FILL IN applicant's FULL NAME & SIGNATURE on last page

​  → Visiting our Embassy is required regardless of whether or not you filled out the e-Form.

o 1 Color passport photo

  - Do not print by yourself, 3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within the last 6 months - front view against white or off-white background)

  - If you uploaded your photo in the e-Form, you don't need to submit a physical one.

o Original and 1 photocopy of Passport (should be valid at least 6 months)

o Visa application fees are as follows : Please find the attached file for an exceptional country fee. If your country is not listed from the file, it means your fee is normal price (cash only).

· (from 1 JULY 2023) 1 USD = 0.90 EUR

· Single-entry visa for 90 days or less of staying     : (from 1 JULY 2023) 36.00 EUR

· Single-entry visa for 91 days or more of staying​   : (from 1 JULY 2023) 54.00 EUR

· Multiple-entry visa for 91 days or more of staying​ : (from 1 JULY 2023) 81.00 EUR

o (If you're a foreigner residing in Finland/Estonia) Original and a photocopy of residence permit card

- It may need to prove your eligible staying period in Finland/Estonia more than 2 years depending on nationality. Please ask us by email regarding this issue.

o Other possible relevant documents : It may differ according to the types of stay, see 'Visa Requirement (click)' category.

※ If you received Confirmation of Visa Issuance (CVI number) from Korea Immigration Office in Korea (provided by inviter residing in Rep. of Korea), You need to fill in 'Visa Application Form only For CVI Holder', 1 photo, Original and 1 photocopy of passport, Visa Issuance Confirmation Certificate and Fee.

​※ Depending on Visa type, it may require additional requirements to submit to our Embassy.

5) After visa application, how to get VISA?→ Visa Status Check & How to get your Visa Grant Notice (Visa Paper) (click)

- You can check your visa processing status online at your convenience. You will not receive emails or phone calls on the status of your visa processing nor to confirm your visa has been issued.

- Visa issuance will be taken 3~4 weeks from visa application date - submission of ALL documents. Through visa screening, it might be requested you to submit additional documents or rejected to issue the visa. 

You will be advised at the time of your application the date your visa is estimated to be issued. On or after this estimated date, please check your visa status via VISA PORTAL website (visa.go.kr). If your visa application was urgent (e.g. death in the family or family critically ill, etc.) you would have been given instructions at the time of application the approximate (expedited) processing time to check the status.

- After applying visa if your application is approved, you can print out Visa Grant Notice (Visa Paper) by yourself.

- If you don't bring the completed e-Form or there is any needed something for registration on our system, we would still have to take your passport and you would then later come back to pick up your passport.



[NOTE]

o Generally a Single Entry Visa is valid for 3 months. You can apply for a visa earliest 3 months prior to the day of your entry.

o Please read all the instructions carefully and fill in the form completely. Your application will be assessed based on the documentation submitted. If there is not enough space to complete any of the sections, please attach an additional sheet. Please note that unsigned visa applications will not be accepted.

o 3rd person can also submit the application, but application form must be signed by applicant.

​Also, if applicant cannot come in person, a person who will pick up the passport should bring the receipt and an attorney letter (refer to the attached file) written and signed by applicant.

o Handling of application starts when all the documents have been submitted and the fee is paid.

o We kindly ask all applicants to pay in exact sum in cash. During a busy time, we are short of changes.

o Visa section at the Embassy is open at 9:30 to 11:30 AM strictly. Please kindly keep operation time.

o Please note that you may be required to submit more documents if it is a special case or when there is a valid reason to view the applicant's purpose of entry in detail.

o If applying your visa is not approved, we do not refund your visa fee.
