Quarantine Information for All Travelers to Rep. of Korea

Mandatory quarantine for International arrivals is lifted from June 8, 2022

and it's strongly encouraged to use Q-code system before entry -

The Central Disease Control Headquarters of Korea (CDCH) announced that all overseas entrants will be exempt from isolation starting from June 8, 2022, which is the final phase of the post-Omicron revision of entry regulations, in consideration of the continued downward trend in new COVID-19 cases in the nation and the stable pandemic situation abroad.

 All travelers entering Korea must present negative COVID-19 test result (click)


[All overseas entrants will be exempt from isolation starting from June 8, 2022]

- don't need to apply quarantine exemption certificate -

 (8, June 2022 KST ~) Quarantine exemption for all overseas entrants regardless of their vaccination history

- ​But it is still mandatory to present negative COVID-19 test result certificate (click).

- You can still use Q-code system established by the KDCA in order to shorten the time for quarantine inspection and provide the conveniences overseas entrants require upon entry to the Republic of Korea.


※ While the new measure will apply retroactively for all overseas entrants as of the effective date of June 8, 2022, individuals who test positive for COVID-19 upon arrival will continue to be isolated.

※ (Before entry) Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test or Supervised Rapid Antigen Test (RAT); (After entry) PCR test within 3 days of entry

- Registration of your information in Q-code is strongly encouraged to shorten their waiting time for entry and enable efficient followup management.

- (14, July 2022 ~) After entry, register your PCR test results* on Q-code system

  * from 25, July 2022, PCR test needed within 1 day after entry (Testing Medical Institutions in Korea → attached)



[For those who should be isolated because of gotten positive result from COVID-19 test]

  Koreans, Long-term stay foreigners: self-quarantine

  Short-term stay foreigners: facility quarantine

   ※ Expenses for quarantine at a government-designated facility
        - Must be paid by the travelers themselves
       - Expenses for quarantine at a government-designated facility are KRW 120,000 per day and must be paid before entering the facility with cash (Korean Won) or international credit card (Foreign currency are not accepted)

   ※ Exceptions for Short-Term Visitors with Family in Korea

       - If they have family relationship with a resident in Korea
       - If self-quarantine is possible
       - The resident in Korea hosting them should be a Korean or a foreigner with a long-term stay visa
       - The family relationship can be : spouse, direct ascendant and descendant, relative within 3rd degree

 

      (Procedure)
      - Change can be made at the airport or at the quarantine facility
      - Required documents : ID card + proof of the family relationship + certification letter (they should be prepared before entering in Korea)
      - The family should pick up the visitor at the airport or at the quarantine facility; if it is difficult, the visitor will be in quarantine in a designated facility until the family submits required documents
      - The general standards and requirement for self-quarantine apply to the visitor, such as installation of the self-quarantine app

      (Documents to submit)
      - The relationship should be proved by an official document such as a family or marriage certificate
      - In case of official documents issued by a foreign government, apostille is required
      - In case of non-English documents, a certified translation is required
      - The resident should submit a letter which certify the protection of the person subject to self-quarantine which clearly expressed that he/she will provide its residence to the visitor for its quarantine, and that he/she will actively cooperate to comply with self-quarantine rules and monitoring of related organizations during the quarantine period​
