On 8 October(Wed.), Amb. Seongho Lee delivered inaugural remarks at the Hangeul Day event at Jawaharlal Nehru Univeristy. Hangeul Day, celebrated on 9th Oct. every year, commemorates the creation and the proclamation of Hangeul, the Korean alphabet by King Sejong, the Great in 1443. Co-hosted by the Embassy and Jawaharlal Nehru Univeristy(JNU), the 3-day event(8-10 Oct.) features an array of cultural programs including the Korean traditional fan dance and K-pop performances, and a host of contests(calligraphy, singing, essay-writing, etc.) prepared and participated by students studying Korean language not only from JNU, but also from Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia.
