The Embassy of the Republic of Korea hosted the National Day at the official residence on October 14, 2021 (Thursday).
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the Embassy held a smaller gathering than usual, with 170 members of the Indian government & foreign missions, Korean residents, Indo Korea Friendship Society, etc. in attendance. The reception began with an instrumental performance by musicians playing the sitar, bansuri and srangi, followed by a K-Pop dance by the Lokalz Crew winning team of the 2019 K-Pop contest. The Korean Cultural Center's Taekwondo demonstration team concluded with a Poomsae and tile-breaking demonstration and an Arirang performance.
Ambassador Chang Jae-bok delivered a welcome speech referring to the age-old historical and cultural relations between South Korea and India and conveyed his pleasure at witnessing the growth of mutual interest in each other's culture.
Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State at the Ministry of External Affairs and Chief Guest stated that he held the strengthening of bilateral exchange and cooperation under the aegis of the 2015 ROK-India Special Strategic Partnership in high esteem. He added that he hoped for more bilateral interactions with the easing of the Covid 19 crisis.
