Republic of Korea National Day and Armed Forces Day Reception

– Over 300 participants, including senior Cambodian government officials and Korean community members, reaffirm commitment to deepening Korea–Cambodia cooperation –


The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Phnom Penh hosted a Reception for the National Day and Armed Forces Day of the Republic of Korea on 1 October 2025 at Sofitel Phnom Penh. The event brought together around 300 guests, including senior Cambodian government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and Korean residents.


Distinguished guests included H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, as Guest of Honor, along with H.E. Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service, H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, H.E. Thor Chetha, Minister of Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, H.E. Chheang Vun, Chairman of the Commission on Economy, Finance, Banking and Audit of the National Assembly, H.E. Chheang Vannarith, Chairman of Advisory Council of the National Assembly, H.E. Mam Bunneang, President of the Friendship Group of the Senate of Cambodia and National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.


In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Hyunsoo Kim, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy, highlighted the progress of bilateral relations since the re-establishment of diplomatic ties in 1997 under the leadership of former Prime Minister Hun Sen, culminating in the elevation to a Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Hun Manet’s official visit to Korea in 2024. He emphasized that future cooperation should translate into concrete results by building stronger trust, through active exchanges in such areas as politics, economy, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges.


In his congratulatory remarks, H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, expressed appreciation for Korea’s close cooperation with Cambodia over the past 28 years in all areas including trade, investment, and development. He conveyed hope that bilateral cooperation as strategic partners will continue to expand and deepen. Recalling his visit to Korea in June, Minister Huot Hak also noted the great potential for tourism cooperation between the two countries and expressed his strong commitment to further promoting exchanges in this sector.


Guests enjoyed Korean cuisine such as gimbap and bulgogi in a warm atmosphere while celebrating the National Day of the Republic of Korea and exchanging views on ways to further enhance friendship and cooperation between Korea and Cambodia.  //End//
