Korea-Laos Rural Development Cooperation Project concludes with closing ceremony(9.18)

o Vientiane, September 16, 2025 — The Korea-Laos Rural Development Cooperation Project, valued at US$12.5 million, has officially concluded, marking significant progress in rural development and agricultural services in northern and central Laos.


o Implemented from 2022 to 2025 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Laos in partnership with the Korea Development Strategy Institute and supported by KOICA, the project has delivered key outcomes. The Lao-Korea Agricultural Techniques and Rural Development Service Centre was upgraded into a modern national training hub, while four provincial agricultural extension centres were newly established or improved.


o Across 14 villages, 123 community projects were completed, ranging from infrastructure and water supply to education, health, and farming initiatives. More than 3,500 officials and villagers participated in over 100 training programs, both domestically and abroad, strengthening local capacity for sustainable development.


o The project has laid a strong foundation for future agricultural growth and resilient rural communities, reflecting the shared commitment of Laos and Korea to inclusive and sustainable development.
