H.E. Mr. Geon Gyusuk, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Lebanon visited the Syrian Ministry of Economy and Trade on September 30, where he held a meeting with Minister H.E. Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar. They discussed bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties, prospects for economic cooperation, and ways to facilitate the entry of Korean companies into the Syrian market.
Ambassador Jeon emphasized the high level of interest among Korean companies in Syria’s reconstruction and requested the Minister’s support in creating favorable conditions for their participation in reconstruction activities.
In response, Minister al-Shaar highlighted that Korea’s exemplary development experience and the advanced technology of Korean companies are essential for Syria’s reconstruction and future growth. He proposed to lay the groundwork for revitalizing Korea-Syria economic cooperation through exchanges between economic stakeholders of the two countries.
Following the meeting with the Minister of Economy and Trade, Ambassador Jeon also held a luncheon meeting with Mr. Ali Omar Al-Ali, President of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, during which they exchanged views on various areas of cooperation for Syria’s reconstruction.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Lebanon will continue to engage closely with the Syrian government and the international community to seek sustainable avenues of cooperation for Syria’s reconstruction and development.
