Announcement: 2026 Global Korea Scholarship Program for Graduate Degrees

We are glad to announce the 2026 Global Korea Scholarship Program for Graduate Degrees (Master's or Doctoral Program)

Students who are interested in this Program should submit their Application and Required Documents between Thu, February 12th from 11am, ~until Wed, February 25th at 6pm (Korean Standard Time), via Online application through the Study in Korea website (www.studyinkorea.go.kr). You have to register first on the website, to be able to proceed with the application process by filling out the required fields and uploading the necessary documents. Note that Applications submitted to the Embassy by email or in person will not be accepted.

Those who wish to apply are required to READ THE GUIDELINES and REQUIREMENTS thoroughly before proceeding with the application (Attached are the application guidelines and application form).

This year One Lebanese Applicant and Four Syrian Applicants will be selected. Applicants holding a nationality other than Syrian or Lebanese are not eligible to apply through the Korean Embassy in Lebanon.

Documents to complete: GKS Applicant Agreement, Application form, Personal Statement, Study Plan, Personal Medical Assessment, Recommendation letter*

* Recommendation letter (Download the FORM 5. from the system)

The letter of recommendation: it must be signed and sealed by one recommender who can evaluate the applicant's academic abilities. This letter must be submitted along with the required documents in the first round of selection (university track)

However, Embassy-track applicants must obtain a recommendation letter using Form 5, have it completed and signed by the recommender, and then scan and upload it to the system for submission

Required certificates: Graduation certificate (or certificate of expected graduation), academic transcript, proof of citizenship, proof of Overseas Korean status, etc.

If you pass the first-round selection, you will be required to submit these documents—if issued in a language other than English or Korean—together with certified translations. You must also obtain an apostille or consular confirmation on either the original documents or the certified translations.

Please note that this procedure takes time in Lebanon. Therefore, you may begin the process in advance at your own responsibility, regardless of whether you are ultimately selected.

Application files should be arranged and submitted as explained in the Guidelines.

Some info:

- Applicants who are expected to graduate by July 31, 2026 can also apply for the program with a certificate of expected graduation and must submit a transcript that includes all semester grades up to the time of application. In addition, they must submit their final academic transcript to the GKS Center, NIIED, by July 31, 2026, after acceptance. The final transcript must be apostilled or consular-confirmed.

Failure to submit the final transcript by the required deadline will result in the cancellation of your acceptance.

-A person who has previously received a scholarship from the Korean government is NOT eligible to apply

-Final successful candidates of the GKS degree program from the past three years who have withdrawn from the program or was disqualified from the program prior to enrollment cannot apply

-If the CGPA is not indicated in one of the acknowledged GPA scales (4.0, 4.3, 4.5, 5.0 or 100 point scale), submit a transcript converted into one of the above GPA scales as a supplementary document

Ÿ A converted transcript is only valid when the relevant university officially confirmed the document (this supplementary document does not need to be apostilled or consular confirmed, but should be submitted in an original document with university’s authentication)

Ÿ A transcript converted with a conversion tool such as scholaro.com or wes.org is only acceptable when the relevant university officially confirms the document (does not need to be apostilled or consular confirmed, but should be authenticated by the university)

Application without converted transcript may be put at a disadvantage during evaluation

Again, we strongly advise you to READ THE GUIDELINES AND REQUIREMENTS thoroughly before proceeding with the application.

In case of any urgent matter or inquiry, you may send an email to lbkor@mofa.go.kr, and we will respond as soon as possible. Phone calls are not accepted. (Please write “Inquiry GKS” in the subject line of your email.)
