DOCUMENT NOTARIZATION SERVICE
Important things to note before submitting your documents to the Embassy

▶ [DOCUMENTS FROM KOREA] Documents originating from Korea (i.e. academic certificates, transcripts,
other government documents, etc.) to be used in Malaysia must be notarized by the Embassy of Malaysia
in Seoul after getting the authentication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
※ Please note that the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kuala Lumpur cannot notarize government
documents originating from Korea.
▶ [UNDERAGE APPLICANTS] Applications for document notarization by underage applicants will not
be accepted.
※ Applications may be made by parental or legal guardians, or other adults who were legally authorized
to do so on the behalf of minors.
Notarization Services that can be provided by the Embassy

1. Acknowledgment of signature
▶ This service is to verify that a particular person signed (a) given document(s) in front of the Embassy’s Consular Officer. (Please DO NOT SIGN the document(s) IN ADVANCE.)
▶ An applicant must visit our Embassy IN PERSON with (a) document(s) to be acknowledged and one’s own valid passport or MyKad.
▶ If an applicant is signing the document(s) on behalf of one’s company, organization, etc., one must provide proof that he/she is authorized or legally eligible to sign the document(s).
▶ In principle, (a) document(s) must be in the language(s) that can be understood both by the signatory and the consular officer of the Embassy. If (a) document(s) is in the language other than English, Bahasa Malaysia, or Korean, the acknowledgment will be declined.
▶cash and Credit/debt Card will be accepted for application fee (RM18 per document).
2. Acknowledgment of affidavit on translation
▶ This service is to verify that a particular person made a sworn statement that (a) given translation of (a) document(s) (e.g. family relations certificate, driving licence, etc.) is true to the original in front of the Embassy’s Consular Officer.
▶ An applicant must prepare the translation and the original of (a) document(s), and bring them with one’s own valid passport or MyKad.
- Please note that the EMBASSY DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY TRANSLATION SERVICE.
- For translation samples of commonly-used documents (i.e. family relations certificate of Korea, driving licence of Korea, driving licence of Malaysia), please refer to the attached file 2.
▶ In principle, (a) document(s) or its translation must be in the language(s) that can be understood both by the signatory and the consular officer of the Embassy.
- If (a) document(s) or its translation is in the language other than English, Bahasa Malaysia, or Korean, the acknowledgment will be declined.
- This does not mean that the authenticity of the original documents or the accuracy of the translation will be guaranteed by the Embassy. It is the applicant who signs the affidavit on translation that assumes full and complete responsibility for his/her statements.

3. Authentication of documents originating from Malaysia
▶ This service is to certify that (a) given document(s) that is to be used in Korea was/were attested by the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs, Malaysia (Wisma Putra).
▶ The authentication of documents does not attest to the authenticity of contents of (a) document(s), but just to the seal and the signature of Wisma Putra officers who are authorized to sign (a) document(s).
▶ An applicant must get the authentication of Wisma Putra on all the pages of the document(s) before submitting them to our Embassy.
- Please be advised that Wisma Putra may require some documents to be certified by relevant government agencies or ministries before the submission to the Consular Division of Wisma Putra.

▶ An applicant must bring one’s own valid passport or MyKad along with the document(s) to be authenticated to our Embassy.
- Please note that anyone who holds the document to be authenticated by our Embassy may apply for this service even though one’s own name is not on the document(s).
▶ If the documents submitted are less than five copies, they can be collected on the same day. However, if they are more than six copies, it will take longer.

4. Malaysian school documents for Korean students returning to Korea (Only applicable to Korean nationals → Non-Koreans must refer to the above (3. Authentication of documents originating from Malaysia).)
▶ Malaysian school documents (graduation certificate, enrolment certificate, and transcript) from primary and secondary education institutes registered with the Ministry of Education, Malaysia, must be authenticated by a school authority on all pages before the submission to our Embassy.
▶ Please note that the Embassy can authenticate (a) document(s) only after the relevant school authority sends the attached confirmation form [FILE 3]to the Embassy (mycon@mofa.go.kr) via official email.
- It takes at least three working days for the authentication of documents less than five copies.
- If documents submitted are more than six copies, it may take at least five working days. /End/
