WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY A VISA WITH VICN AT THE EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA IN MALAYSIA?

 

1. Applicants with Visa Issuance Confirmation Number (VICN) who are physically present in Malaysia

 

[Note]:

○ Eligible applicants are still subject to the eligibility requirement of each visa type, and must be physically present in Malaysia.

 


IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR VISA APPLICATION

 

1. Documents and fee submitted for visa application will not be returned, regardless of the outcome.

 

2. Visa is subjected to approval.

 

3. Application must be made on individual basis. You must prepare the documents as per individual application.

 

4. Confirmed flight tickets and hotel bookings are not compulsory. DO NOT purchase any non-refundable tickets as the Embassy DOES NOT take any responsibility in case your application is delayed or denied.

 

5. The Embassy has the right to request additional documents OR call an applicant for an interview if it is deemed necessary (case by case basis).

 

6. All documents submitted must be in English, Bahasa Melayu or Korean. Documents in other languages must be translated by a professional translator and notarized.

 

7. Overseas documents must be notarized by the Korean Embassy or Consulate in a country where that document was issued.

 

[NOTE] IF A VISA APPLICANT CAUSES PHYSICAL HARM TO THE STAFF OR THE PROPERTY OF THE EMBASSY, MAKES VERBAL OR PHYSICAL THREATS, EXERT INAPPROPRIATE PRESSURE, OR PROVIDES ANY FRAUDULENT OR UNTRUTHFUL INFORMATION OR DOCUMENTS, HE/SHE MAY BE DENIED THE ISSUANCE OF VISA FOR A MAXIMUM 3 YEARS.

 


STEP ON HOW TO APPLY FOR A VISA

 

REMINDER: Make sure you read all the steps mentioned below.

 

STEP 1

An inviting party (employer, medical institute, family etc.) in Korea must apply for and obtain the Visa Issuance Confirmation from a local office of Korea Immigration Service in Korea or through the Korea Visa Portal.

 

STEP 2

After approval, the inviting party provides the applicant with the Certificate of Visa Issuance printed from Korea Visa Portal.

 

 

 Fill up all the information on the certificate including date, your full name and sign at the right bottom of your certificate.

 

If any of your personal details in the Certificate is incorrect, please ask the inviting party to make the necessary correction.

 

STEP 3

Fill up an e-Form via Korea Visa Portal to get the serial number.

 

Select Korean Embassy in Malaysia (for submission to Embassy in KL)

 

You must use the latest & same photo that you have uploaded on the e-Form with the photo that you will use to submit to the counter. If you use different photos, your application may be rejected or delayed.

 

Fill up all the information according to your best knowledge as the Embassy will not be able to assist you on how to fill up the form for each detail. You may refer to the attached manual.

 

Make sure you fill up the visa issuance confirmation details at its section.

 

Print & download your e-Form

 

If the information is not written on the form after you have printed it out, please fill it up manually using a black ball pen.

 

After submission is done, you do not have to wait for the approval!

 

[IMPORTANT:] After submission, (X) DO NOT close the window / Tab

If you do, you will not be able to download and print the form.

[IMPORTANT:] Please make sure your serial number begin with MAxxONxxxxxx. Your form should consist of 2 pages. After printing out the form, please write the date, your full name and sign at the right bottom of your form.

STEP 4

 

▶ Make an online reservation under the name of person who will physically visit the Embassy (you or your representative)

 

▶ A walk-in applicant will not be entertained

 

▶ Please refer to the attached ‘User guide for online reservation (VISA)’

 

STEP 5

 

Prepare all documents according to the Checklist below.

 

STEP 6

 

Submit your application to the Visa Counter at Embassy & make payment (Cash in MYR only).

 

[NOTE:]

● Application by mail or online is NOT possible.

● Process take 7 working days NOT including the submission day. It

may take longer during peak season.

● Earliest time to apply is 3 months before entry to Korea, as a visa

will be valid for three months from date of issue.

● Urgent / express visa service is NOT available.

 

STEP 7

 

Document will be reviewed by the Consul

 

Additional document or interview may be requested if it is deemed necessary when reviewing your application. Please check your email frequently.

 

STEP 8

 

On the informed date, please check your result at the Korea Visa Portal.

 

Expected date of result will be informed on your visa receipt.

 

Guideline on how to download the Visa Grant notice will be given on your application day. Please keep it.

 

You do not need to visit our Embassy to pick up your passport. Your passport will be returned after the verification on the same day of your visa application.

 

There is no more visa sticker in your passport.

IF REJECTED

 

You only can re-apply after 3 months from the date of rejection

 

You may check the result and reason of rejection on the Korea Visa Portal website, and we do not provide further details

 

There is no appeal procedure at the Embassy.

 

Documents and fee submitted for visa application will not be returned.


CHECKLIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

[NOTE]

Consent for Isolation IS NOT REQUIRED.

Certificate of Health for Tuberculosis(TB) screening IS NOT REQUIRED for visit less than 90 days.

 

1. A complete e-Form

(All details must be completed with applicant’s signature & date)

 

 2. Certificate of Visa issuance

 

3. One-recent passport sized color photo (white background only)

 

4. Passport (Original & 1 photocopy of the bio-page)

 

5. Visa in Malaysia (Original and 1 copy)

 

6. For long term applicants from the following countries (according to passport) stated in the below table, you MUST submit :

 

Certificate of Health for Tuberculosis screening from a designated hospital in Malaysia
