IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR VISA APPLICATION

Method: 

All documents must be submitted in person at the counter. Applications by mail or online are not accepted. 

Processing Time: 3 working days, excluding the submission day, and may take longer during peak season. Urgent or express visa services are not available.

Submissions by a representative are allowed. The Embassy does not have designated travel agents. You may submit your application in person or through any representative or travel agent of your choice.

Reservation: Online reservation is compulsory and must be made under the name of the person who will physically visit the Embassy (you or your representative). Walk-ins are not accepted. Slots are opened for 1 month only.

• a)Reserve 1 slot only (You may bring max 5 applications per slot, please make note in reservation). Email us for submissions of more than 10 people on the same day.

• b)Do not make separate reservations for the same family, friends, or group.

Earliest Time to Apply:

3 months before your intended entry to Korea. Visas are valid for three months from the date of issue and cannot be extended.

Original passport is required. 

Your passport will be returned after verification on the same day of your visa application.

Bank statements from Malaysia only – 

It must be certified by a bank officer in Malaysia with an official stamp and signature. Foreign bank statements, including those from WISE, Touch ‘n Go or similar platforms will not be accepted.

Visa issuance is subject to approval. 

Confirmed flight tickets and hotel bookings are not required. Do not purchase non-refundable tickets, as the Embassy is not responsible for delays or denials.

Documents and fees submitted will not be returned, regardless of the application outcome. Please make any necessary photocopies, as documents submitted will not be returned.

All documents must be in English, Bahasa Melayu, or Korean. Documents in other languages must be professionally translated and notarized. Certificates issued abroad must be translated into English and certified by the relevant foreign mission in Malaysia, the Korean Embassy/Consulate in the issuing country, or with an Apostille if applicable. Documents may also be accepted if endorsed by the Malaysian government. 

Otherwise, your document will not be recognized.

The Embassy may request additional documents or call an applicant for an interview on a case-by-case basis.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO APPLYING FOR A VISA AT THE EMBASSY

STEP 1

COMPLETE THE E-FORM VIA THE KOREA VISA PORTAL

[A. STEP TO BE DONE BY THE INVITER IN KOREA]

①  The inviting party (employer, medical institution, etc.) in Korea must apply for and obtain the 

      Visa Issuance Confirmation from a local Korea Immigration Service office or via the Korea Visa Portal.

②  Upon approval, the inviting party shall provide the applicant with the Certificate of Visa Issuance 

      printed from the Korea Visa Portal.

[B. STEP TO BE DONE BY THE APPLICANT]

①  Fill in all the information on the certificate, including the date and your full name, and sign at the 

  bottom right of the certificate. If any personal details on the certificate are incorrect, 

  please ask the inviting party to make the necessary corrections, or

②  If you encounter difficulties printing your Certificate of Visa Issuance Confirmation Number, 

please complete the e-form through the Korea Visa Portal. Please refer to the steps below:

• 1.Select the Embassy:

Choose the Korean Embassy in Malaysia (for submission in Kuala Lumpur) / Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Kota Kinabalu (for those who are living in Sabah and Sarawak).

• 2.Use a consistent photo:

Upload the latest photo on the e-Form (the same one you will submit at the counter. Different photos may cause rejection or delays.)

• 3.Fill up the Visa Issuance Confirmation section:

Incomplete or incorrect forms may lead to rejection or delays.

• 4.Fill out all information accurately:

Provide details to the best of your knowledge. The Embassy is unable to provide assistance in completing the form details. Refer to the attached manual if needed.

Important Notes:

• ①Do not close the browser window after submission. Closing it will prevent you from downloading and printing the form. Click the green “Visa Application” box to download the PDF.

• ②Ensure your serial number begins with MAxxONxxxxxx and the form consists of 2 pages. If not, you must complete the e-Form again.

• ③Please sign at the bottom right. Fill in any missing information manually with a black ballpoint pen.

STEP 2

MAKE A RESERVATION.

Make an online reservation by following the attached “(VISA) User Guide for Online Reservation”. The link to the reservation website is provided in the PDF.

STEP 3

PREPARE ALL DOCUMENTS ACCORDING TO THE CHECKLIST.

Prepare all documents according to the below checklist.

STEP 4

SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION WITH COMPLETE DOCUMENTS.

Submit your application at the Embassy visa counter and make payment in MYR (cash or card).

STEP 5

YOUR DOCUMENTS WILL BE REVIEWED BY THE CONSUL.

Additional documents or an interview may be requested if deemed necessary. Please check your email regularly.

STEP 6

ON THE INFORMED DATE, CHECK YOUR RESULT ON THE KOREA VISA PORTAL.

The expected result date will be stated on your visa receipt.

Guidelines for downloading the Visa Grant Notice will be provided on your application day, so please keep them. There is no need to visit the Embassy to collect your passport.

Note that no visa sticker will be placed in your passport.

WHAT IF MY VISA IS DENIED?

You may check the result and reason for rejection on the Korea Visa Portal. The Embassy does not provide specific details. All documents and fees submitted will not be returned. There is no appeal procedure at the Embassy. You may re-apply after 3 months from the date of rejection.
