Frequent questions on quarantine exemption for fully vaccinated abroad

DATE
2022-03-17

< Answers for Frequent questions >

1. I was vaccinated twice, but I got COVID19, so I was not able to get a booster(3rd) shot. Is there any exception for my situation?

- If you can provide an official document with a date of positive result based on PCR test(for example, Certificate of Recovery), you will be regarded the same as those who have received the third vaccination(booster shot). Make sure to bring the proof document along with your vaccination certificate(2 dose).

2. I have two children, one is 5 and the other one is 8 years old. As it is not mandatory for them to get vaccinated(under 12 years old), is there any different rules that apply to minors?

- The nature of new policy is to give a quarantine exemption for those low-risk inbound travelers who have completed vaccination, and therefore, it is not possible to apply the quarantine exemption to all children. However, children under the age of 6 will be considered the minimum age that requires parental protection, and thus, quarantine exemption will be applied if all of the accompanying parents have been vaccinated, and had a Q-CODE registered.

※ From 1st of June 2022, minors under 12 years old can get quarantine exemption if the accompanying parents are fully vaccinated. Minors whose age is between 12~17, 2 shots will be considered as being fully vaccinated. (14 days must have passed, no validity period required)

3. I am fully vaccinated abroad, and I will arrive at Incheon airport on 29th of March. Do I still have to do the full 7 days of quarantine or 3 days only since the new policy will apply from 1st of April for those who are vaccinated abroad?

- It will not be applied retroactively since those who enter Korea from 1st of April will be exempted from quarantine only through the Q-CODE pre-registration system. You still have to be in quarantine for 7 days.
