In order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the Republic of Korea will require a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine for all travelers entering Korea at either their place of residence or a government-designated isolation facility, effective April 1, 2020. This mandatory self-quarantine will apply to everyone, regardless of nationality, except the short-term foreign visitors who are issued with an "Quarantine Exemption Certificate” from the ROK Embassy or Consulate General prior to the trip.
The quarantine exemption certificate is valid only if it is issued within 7 days of the date of the arrival to Korea.
The maximum periods for the quarantine exemption are 7 days for the purpose of humanitarian and 14 days for the purpose of business after an arrival in Korea. If your exemption period is less than those periods and want to stay after the period, you must either be quarantined for a total of 14 days (including exemption period) in your own place or in a government-designated facility(required to pay up to KRW 150,000 a day) or leave the country.
[Important Business Purpose Visitors]
Applicants for the quarantine exemption certificate must visit Korea with B-1(visa exempt), B-2(no visa), C-1, C-3, C-4, D-7, D-8, D-9, F-4, F-5 or F-6 visa.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Netherlands issues quarantine exemption certificates only after we receive an official request document from the Governmental Department in Korea such as MOTIE (Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy), MSS (Ministry of SMEs and Startups), etc.
Before you submit the exemption certificates application, please confirm your quarantine exemption approval by email (consulnl@mofa.go.kr).
