New Policy on quarantine exemption for those vaccinated

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency is planning to gradually extend the quarantine exemption to those who have been vaccinated in Korea and abroad. In this regard, the quarantine exemption rule (currently 7 days) for those who have completed COVID-19 vaccination will be changed as follows. 



■  Those who have been fully vaccinated in Korea and have registered their vaccination history in the COVID-19 Vaccination Verification System (COOV) will be exempted from quarantine from 21-03-2022(Mon).


 Those who have been fully vaccinated abroad(countries other than South Korea) but have not registered their overseas vaccination history in the COVID-19 Vaccination Verification System (COOV) will be exempted from quarantine from 01-04-2022.(Fri).



 Standard of full vaccination :

- Those who have passed 14 days and within 180 days after the second dose(one dose for Janssen) of WHO-approved vaccine, or

- Those who have completed 3rd dose of WHO-approved vaccine(booster shot)



■ Application Method :

  ○ Those who have completed vaccinations registered in Korea: the vaccination status will automatically be linked to the quarantine information pre-entry system(Q-CODE).


  ○ Those who have been fully vaccinated abroad (not yet registered in Korea) : The applicants must input their vaccination history into pre-entry system and generate the Q-CODE. They must also hold a vaccination proof/certificate when entering South Korea.
