Revised Application Method and Schedule for the 2026 Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) Program for Undergraduate degrees (GKS-U)

Due to a fire at the National Inforamation Resources Service in Korea and the suspenstion of the Study in Korea online system, application submission as well as checking the submitted material through the system are currently unavailable. Accordingly, the application method and schedule for the embassy track have been revised as follows: 

 

1. Number of Scholarships Available for the Embassy Track (Nepal): 2 persons (General 1, R-GKS 1)

 

2. Programs: 1 year of Korean language study plus 4-6 years of degree study

 

3. Departments and Universities: Applicants can only apply to the universities and departments that are listed in the "University Information" with this notice(Type A and B)

   ※ General program : Applicants choose up to THREE different universities in any order of preference and MUST apply to at least one of the universities from Type B.

   ※ R-GKS program : Applicants can choose up to TWO different universities from Type B universities.

 

4. Eligibility

 Nepali Citizen

 Graduated from high school

(APPLICANTS WHO ARE EXPECTED TO GRADUATE BY DECEMBER 31ST, 2025 CAN ALSO APPLY FOR THE PROGRAM WITH A CERTIFICATE OF EXPECTED GRADUATION. SUCH APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT THEIR OFFICIAL GRADUATION CERTIFICATE AND FINAL ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT TO GKS CENTER, NIIED BY DECEMBER 31, 2025. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN CANCELLATION OF YOUR ACCEPTANCE)

 A score percentile of 80% or higher on a 100-point scale, or ranking in the top 20% of one's school, is required.

 CGPA(Cumulative Grade Point Average) must be equal to or above 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0

 Must be under the age of 25 (born after March 1, 2001)

 Must be in good health, both mentally and physically, to study in Korea for the full duration of the program

 

5. Application Method: all application documents must be submitted directly (in person or by post) to Korean embassy in principle and e-mail application(konepemb@mofa.go.kr) is available if applicants live outside of Kathmandu valley or having difficulty of moving

   ※ Applicants who have already submitted their applications online are also required to resubmit their complete application documents to the embassy by the deadline because it is unable to check the submitted documents. 

 

6. Deadline: October 6 2025, 09:30 (Mon) ~ October 10 2025, 16:30 (Fri) 

   ※ To recommend the Embassy Track candidates to NIIED by the scheduled date of October 27, the application deadline has been adjusted to account for public holidays in Nepal (Tihar and Chhath Parva, from October 20 to October 27).

 

7. Application guideline

 All the required certificates must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Nepal before submitting to the Embassy.

 Documents written in languages other than English and Korean must be attested by MoFA, and their certified translation must be submitted.

 However, considering recent situations in Nepal, in case of being unable to obtain certificates or attestation from MoFA, non-certified documents may be submitted.

 Only the successful candidates after interview shall be informed by the Embassy for Consular Confirmation of Required Documents.

 One set of required documents shall be submitted to the embassy for the 1st round of selection.

 

8. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for the interview
