Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Singapore

The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea is inviting talented Singaporeans to participate in '2023 Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) for Graduate Degrees.'

The application guidelines and FAQ, including qualifications, required documents/forms for submission, and all other necessary information are attached.

Number of Singaporean grantees (Quota under Embassy Track): 8

Scholarship Period

O Doctoral Degree Program: 4 years (1 year of Language+3 years of Degree Program)

O Master’s Degree Program: 3 years (1 year of Language+2 years of Degree Program)

O Research Program: 6 months or 1 year 

Selection Schedule

O Application Period: February 9(Thu)-March 10(Fri), 2023

O Announcement of the shortlisted applicants for interview (The 1st round of selection): March 15(Wed), 2023 

O Interview: Afternoon of March 17(Fri), 2023

O The 1st round of Selection result announcements (individual notification): March 20, 2023(Mon)

O Announcement of successful candidates of the 2nd round: early May (GKS Notice on the website, www.studyinkorea.go.kr)

O Announcement of the 3rd round of selection result by the universities: by June 9, 2023 

O Announcement of the final successful candidates: late June (GKS Notice on the website, www.studyinkorea.go.kr)

Eligibility

O Applicants and their parents must hold foreign citizenship (i.e. non-Korean citizenship)

O Applicants must be under 40 years of age as of September 1, 2023 (born after September 1, 1983)

O Applicants must have obtained the required degree (minimum level of education) by February 28, 2023. 

O Grades: All applicants must have maintained the overall grade point average (CGPA) equivalent to or higher than any ONE of the following from their respective universities:

 - 2.64 on a 4.0 scale;

 - 2.80 on a 4.3 scale;

 - 2.91 on a 4.5 scale;

 - 3.23 on a 5.0 scale; or

 - Score percentile: 80% or above on a 100-point scale or be ranked within the top 20% within one's class

O Applicants may choose up to THREE different universities from Type A and B of the available Universities list in the guidelines attached and MUST apply to at least one of the universities from Type B. 

O Research program applicant must apply to ONE university among Type A and B. 

Restriction 

O A person who has graduated from a Korean high school or a Korean university is NOT eligible to apply.

O A person who has previously received scholarship for a degree program from the Korean government is NOT eligible to apply. 

O Final successful candidates of the GKS degree program from the past three years who have withdrawn from the program or was disqualified from the program prior to enrollment cannot apply.

* Korea Embassy working hours: 9:00-18:00(Mon-Fri). For hand-deliver, please avoid lunch break (12:30-2pm). 

2. Document submission: 

O To ease applicants’ preparation of documents, Korean Embassy will accept all documents in photocopies 

- Submission requirements: THREE(3) sets of application documents in photocopies 

* No need to be apostilled or consular confirmed  

O After the announcement of the 1st Selection result on March 20, 2023, GKS candidates(8) and back up candidates(1) will be required to submit ONE apostilled or consular confirmed original document and THREE additional photocopies of the application documents by no later than 22 March(Wed), 2023. 

* If you are applying from overseas and cannot submit the apostilled documents in time, please submit all application documents (1 original + 3 photocopies of the apostilled documents) at once. 

3. The deadline for submission is March 10, 2023(Fri).
