2025 Global Korea Scholarship for Graduate Degrees

The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea invites talented Singaporeans to apply for the 2025 Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) for Graduate Degrees.


Please refer to the attached application guidelines for details on eligibility, required documents/forms, and other essential information.



1. Quota for Singaporean Applicants (Embassy Track): 8



2. Scholarship Duration


O Doctoral Degree Program: 4 years (1 year of Language+3 years of Degree Program)

O Master’s Degree Program: 3 years (1 year of Language+2 years of Degree Program)

O Research Program: 6 months or 1 year 




3. Selection Schedule


O Application Period: 10 February - 3 March, 2025 (by 10:00 am)

Announcement of shortlisted applicants for interview11 March 2025 (Tue)

   (Only shortlisted candidates will receive individual email notifications.)

O Interview: Morning of 17 March, 2025 (Mon) 

   The interview date cannot be changed. The interview time will be individually notified.

   If you are unable to attend in person due to unavoidable circumstances, a video interview may be arranged upon prior agreement.)

Announcement of the 1st selection results (individual notification):: 18 March, 2025 (Tue)

Announcement of the 2nd round selection results: By late April 2025 (via GKS Notice on the website, www.studyinkorea.go.kr)

Announcement of the 3rd round selection results: By late May 2025 (via GKS Notice on the website)

Announcement of the final selection resultsExpected by late June 2025 (via GKS Notice on the website)




4. Eligibility


Nationality: Applicants must hold Singaporean citizenship, and both parents must be non-Korean citizens.


Age: Applicants must be under 40 years old (born after September 1, 1985).


Educational Background: Applicants must have obtained the required degree (as specified in the guidelines) or be expected to graduate by July 31, 2025.


Academic Performance: The cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from the entire curriculum of the previous degree program must meet one of the following criteria:

 - 2.64 on a 4.0 scale;

 - 2.80 on a 4.3 scale;

 - 2.91 on a 4.5 scale;

 - 3.23 on a 5.0 scale; or

 - Score percentile80% or above on a 100-point scale, or ranked within the top 20% of one's class


GPA Conversion: If an applicant's transcript does not provide a CGPA in one of the accepted GPA scales, a converted transcript (matching one of the above GPA scales) must be submitted as a supplementary document.


University-Specific Eligibility: Applicants must check for any additional eligibility requirements set by each university/department. Some departments may have specific requirements (e.g., TOPIK Level 3) for enrollment. Please carefully review the requirements of your chosen universities.


University Selection: Applicants may select up to three different universities and available fields of study from the 74 universities listed in Appendix C (Type A + Type B) of the attached guidelines.

  • Choice 1 must be selected only from Type B universities.

  • Be careful not to confuse Choice 1 with Choices 2 and 3.



5.  Document submission:

  • To facilitate document preparation, the Korean Embassy will accept all documents in photocopies.  (except Letter of Recommendation). Please submit only one original recommendation letter, sealed in an envelope, during the initial submission. There is no need to resubmit it during the additional document submission.

  • Submission RequirementsOne (1) set of photocopied application documents.

  • No need for apostille or consular confirmation.


 

6. Additional Document Submission (for Selected Candidates)

After the 1st Selection results are announced on 18 March 2025, the eight (8) GKS candidates and one (1) backup candidate must submit the following documents by 25 March 2025 (Tue):

  • One (1) original document (apostilled or consular-confirmed)

  • Three (3) additional photocopies of the above documents

📌Since the original recommendation letter was already submitted during the initial submission, there is no need to submit it again.


📌 For overseas applicants:

If you are applying from overseas and cannot submit apostilled documents by the deadline, please submit one (1) original + three (3) photocopies at the time of your initial submission.
