Notice Before Travelling to Korea-What You Need to Know

(Updated on 03 January 2022) With effect from 13 January 2022, 0000hrs, non-VTL travellers are required to undergo a pre-departure PCR test within 72 hours of departure (old requirement: test result issued within 72 hours). Please scroll down for more details.


This page provides an overview of the entry requirements and quarantine measures of Korea. You are encouraged to refer to the individual links listed on this page for more details.


​1. Check if you have a valid K-ETA, Visa or APEC Card 

    Multiple entry visas issued prior to 05 April 2020 are all invalidated.

    ※ APEC card holders may enter Korea without visa or K-ETA.

    ※ If you have K-ETA, you do not need a visa.

    ※ Singapore passport holders would be able to apply for K-ETA starting from 08 November 2021, 0000hrs.

    ☞ In view of safe distancing measures, applicants are required to apply for visa through an appointed visa agent. The list of appointed visa agents is regularly updated and attached above. 


       ※ In person submission (without assistance of travel agent) is allowed for certain visa types (i.e C-3-1 Humanitarian Visa, D-2 Student Visa, D-4-1 Language Training Visa, F-4 Overseas Korean Visa, F-6 Spouse Visa, Confirmation of Visa Issuance...) Please refer to the individual visa checklist for details.


       ※ Travel agents may charge additional agent fee for providing their service. The additional fee is not regulated or received by the Embassy.

2. Check if you are eligible for quarantine exemption



  Quarantine Exemption Scheme

 Purpose of visit

 Fully vaccinated in Singapore

 Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL)

 Unlimited

 Eligibility criteria:

 - A person who is fully vaccinated in Singapore with WHO Emergency Use Listing (EUL) COVID-19 vaccines for at least two (2) weeks before arrival in Korea.


 - The traveller must remain in Singapore or Korea for at least 14 days consecutively prior to travel.


 - Accompanying children below the age of 6 who are unvaccinated are eligible to travel to Korea via VTL and be exempted from quarantine. Unvaccinated children age 6 years and above may enter Korea but would be subjected to quarantine for 10 days (link).


 - The traveller must take a direct flight operated by Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Singapore Airlines or Scoot from Singapore to Korea.

(Issuance of quarantine exemption for the purpose of family visitation is temporarily suspended till 03 Feb 2022)

 - Immediate family member refers to lineal descendants (i.e grandparents, parents, children), spouse and spouse's lineal descendants.


 - Accompanying children below age of 6 who are unvaccinated may also apply for quarantine exemption.

3. Download app prior to departure to Korea

​   ⓐ Korean nationals and long-term residents of Korea (ARC holders): Self-Quarantine Safety Protection App

   ⓑ Short-term visitors (including VTL travellers), A-1, A-2, A-3 visa holders and foreigners who received Quarantine Exemption Certificate: Self-Check App 


4. Mandatory travel insurance

    ○ Not applicable to Korean nationals, foreigners with approved long-term visa (i.e stay more than 90 days) and foreigners who hold Quarantine Exemption Certificate issued for humanitarian, public interest or important business purpose.

     ○ Travellers must purchase travel insurance with a minimum coverage of 30 million won (approximately SGD 34,000) for COVID-19 related medical/treatment expenses and hospitalisation cost.

    ○ The traveller must carry a physical copy of the insurance policy when travelling to Korea.

5. Undergo a COVID-19 PCR test before departure (link)


    ▷ You may take the pre-departure PCR test at a MOH-approved test provider (see list)


    ▷ For non-VTL travellers (via airport): the PCR test to be taken within 72 hours of departure (till 19 January 2022) or within 48 hours of departure (from 20 January 2022)


    For non-VTL travellers (via seaport): the PCR test result must be issued within 72 hours of boarding the vessel bound for Korea 


    ▷ For VTL travellers: the individual must undergo the pre-departure COVID-19 test within 48 hours of departure. For example, if the VTL traveller is taking the flight on 20 December, he/she may take the test on 18 December.

※Failure to submit negative COVID-19 (PCR) test result will result in denial of boarding at departure airport


(NEW) Starting from 20 August 2021, Korean crew men who signed off in Singapore to return to Korea by flight would be allowed to do so without the negative COVID-19 (PCR) test result so long as they present their seaman book. Upon arrival in Korea, they will be subjected to facility quarantine (7 days) at their own cost and self-quarantine at home (7 days).

Pre-departure PCR test to be taken within 48 hours (2 days) of departure (starting from 20 January 2022)

​For example, if the traveller is taking the flight on 21 January 2022 at 1000hrs, he/she may take the test on 19 January 2022 from 0000hrs onwards.
13 January 2022 (KST) Infants and children under the age of 6 (as of entry date)

 ▷Airline crew (may be subjected to change in the future)

 Korean nationals and foreign nationals (effective from 18 November 2021) with quarantine exemption certificate issued for the purpose of attending funeral.

VTL travellers

Pre-departure PCR test to be taken within 48 hours (2 days) of departure


 For example, if the VTL traveller is taking the flight on 20 December at 2300hrs, he/she may take the test on 18 December from 0000hrs onwards.
