F-1-D Workation Visa

Who is eligible to apply for this visa?

Applicant must:

(i) be 18 years old or older

(ii) earn a month basic salary of at least approx. SGD 7,600 (subjected to change)

(iii) have worked in current Singapore-based company for at least 1 year


AND is permitted by his/her employer to work remotely in Korea for more than 90 days.

Note:

1) Short-term visitors in Singapore are not eligible to apply for this visa at our Embassy.

2) Foreigners who are currently in Korea under K-ETA or on short-term visa such as B-1,B-2 or C-3 may apply for F-1-D visa at a local immigration office if they meet the requirements. For enquiries, please contact the local immigration office directly.

3) The F-1-D visa would allow individuals to stay in Korea for one year with the opportunity to extend for another year. Extension of stay would be handled by the local immigration office in Korea.

○︎ You are required to apply for Registration Card at a local immigration office in Korea within 90 days of your arrival. Should you decide to depart Korea for good, the Registration Card must be returned to the immigration office or immigration officer at the departure airport. Failure to do so will result in a fineThe Embassy does not issue / extend Registration Card.

  • 1.Visa application form with one passport photo taken against white background

         ※︎ Please ensure all fields are completed to the best of your knowledge. Leaving blanks on the form will cause disadvantage.


    2. Passport with at least 6 months remainder validity (original and CLEAR copy of bio-data page)

        ※︎ Passport will be kept at the Embassy during the processing of your application.


    3. NRIC / long-term pass (CLEAR copy)

        ※︎ For physical work passes issued with QR code, please use "SGWORKPASS" app to obtain the latest pass information. A clear printout of the scan result obtained within recent 1 week must be submitted.

        ※︎ For digital passes, the printout of pass information must include the verifiable QR code.

        ※︎ Blurred photocopies or omission of QR code will result in visa rejection.


    4. Re-entry permit (applicable to PR only)


    5. Letter issued by Singapore company to verify your employment status, approval for remote working overseas and dates of remote working overseas (original and issued within recent 1 month) OR ACRA biz profile (if you own the business)


    6.  Income Tax Return (Notice of Assessment for 2024)  


    7. Recent 3 months Singapore bank account statements / e-statements

        ※︎  Credit/debit card statements will not be accepted.

        ※︎  Overseas bank account statements will not be accepted.

        ※︎  Please provide a CLEAR printout. Blurred copies may result in visa rejection.


    8. Certificate of Clearance issued by Singapore Police Force (SPF) if the applicant has resided in Singapore for 1 year and above (issued within recent 6 months)

        ※︎  Please print this page and submit to SPF to prove the necessity of COC for visa application.


    9. Criminal records certificate in home country issued within recent 6 months (applicable to non-Singaporeans)

        ※︎  Apostilled or notarized by the Korean Embassy in the issuing country


   10. Criminal records in country/countries where the applicant has resided for 1 year and above in the recent 5 years (if applicable) (issued within recent 6 months)

    11. Medical insurance that covers SGD 150,000 in medical treatment and medical evacuation/repatriation fees

    5. Copy of English marriage certificate (for spouse) or English birth certificate (for minor child)

        ※︎ Certificates issued outside of Singapore must be apostilled or notarized by the Korean Embassy in the issuing country before submission.

        (a) For working spouse: company letter to confirm resignation / remote working arrangement / sabbatical leave arrangement...etc (original and issued within recent 1 month)

        (b) For schooling child: school letter to confirm leave of absence / withdrawal (original and issued within recent 1 month)

1. Is it possible to apply for F-1-D visa as a freelancer?

   ▷︎ F-1-D visa is meant for applicants who can work remotely for overseas companies. Therefore, freelancers are not eligible to apply for this visa.

2. What is the scope of accompanying family members?

   ▷︎ Accompany family members would include the remote worker's spouse and minor children.

3. Will my status of stay be revoked if I lose my job after entering Korea on a F-1-D visa?

   ▷︎ In case if you lose your job after entering Korea on a F-1-D visa, you are not required to report it under the current laws and regulations. However, you cannot extend your stay further and must leave Korea when the permitted period of stay expires.

4. Do I have to pay tax in Korea for income earned overseas?

   ▷︎ According to Article 3 (Scope of Taxable Income) of the Income Tax Act, residents are imposed tax on all income. However, for short-term foreign residents*, tax is imposed only on his/her income paid in or remitted to the Republic of Korea in case of taxable income from foreign sources.


In addition, countries that signed a double taxation avoidance agreement with Korea are not subjected to imposition of relevant tax if the treaty contains the relevant provisions. Details of the treaty can be found at txsi.hometax.go.kr


*Short-term foreign residents refer to foreign residents who have their domicile or place of residence for not more than 5 years in total from 10 years before the end of the relevant taxable period.

5. Are F-1-D visa holders required to subscribe to National Health Insurance in Korea?

   ▷︎ F-1-D visa holders are required to subscribe to National Health Insurance if they live in Korea for more than 6 months. The local insurance premiums are calculated according to the same standards as Korean nationals. However, if the calculated premium is less than the average insurance premium, the average premium (KRW 150,990 as of 2024) will be imposed.


If a foreigner residing in Korea receives medical coverage equivalent to medical care benefits under Article 41 of the National Health Insurance Act based on foreign laws/foreign insurance/contract with the employer, the foreigner may apply for exclusion from National Health Insurance.

6. Do I need to confirm my air ticket and accommodation booking before applying for visa?

   ▷︎ No. Flight and accommodation bookings are not required for visa application.
