On 19 November 2018, Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the UN hosted a briefing session on the UN Secretariat’s recruitment policies and a reception for about 30 Korean under- and post-graduate students studying in New York area. Korean staff members currently working in the UN Secretariat were invited to take part in the event to tell their stories to and have Q&As with the students. The briefing was then followed by a reception where participants had opportunities for individual counselling and networking.
Ambassador Cho, Tae-yul emphasized in his welcoming remarks that students need to have accurate information and realistic perspectives in preparing for job opportunities, which is equally important as nurturing a dream of working in the UN. He also hoped that the event will give them a good chance to get useful advice from the staff members who joined the UN through various career paths.
