Although all travelers entering the Republic of Korea are required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in principle, those who meet the following conditions may apply for quarantine exemption. Due to the worldwide spread of a new highly transmissible COVID-19 variant, the requirements have been tightened recently*, so those seeking to obtain a quarantine exemption certificate are advised to review the requirements listed below carefully for eligibility.
* Those who plan to visit the ROK for academic affairs are not eligible for quarantine exemption starting January 5, 2021. Those who want to visit the ROK for important business will be granted quarantine exemption only in limited circumstances (The sponsoring Korean companies are advised to contact domestic authorities(1566-8110) for the specifics). Those who are eligible for quarantine exemption based on humanitarian reasons can be exempted from the quarantine for up to 7 days(not 14 days).
