Nationality Act 15 | A national of the Republic of Korea who voluntarily acquires the nationality of a foreign country shall lose the nationality of the Republic of Korea at the time when he or she acquires the foreign nationality. |
Nationality Act 16 | A person who has lost his or her nationality of the Republic of Korea shall report the loss of nationality to the Minister of Justice. |

※If a person who acquired U.S. citizenship however did not report Loss of Nationality has died, immediate family or legal representative also need to provide an original and a copy of Death Certificate in addition. ※Processing time for Ministry of Justice response: 3-6 months or more; contact Ministry of Justice Nationality Division for details. ※If an immediate family member is reporting/submitting on behalf of the applicant, a valid U.S. passport, permanent resident card, or citizenship certificate (original & copy) is also required to prove the representative's current nationality. |
