1. More than 50 countries, including the Republic of Korea, signed the Arms Trade Treaty at the UN headquarters on June 3.
2. The Arms Trade Treaty, adopted by the UN General Assembly in April, will regulate illicit and indiscreet trade of conventional weapons. As such, it is expected to contribute to promoting regional and global peace and stability as well as sustainable development and preventing infringements of human rights.

3. The ROK, which implements its relevant export control policy in a responsible and transparent manner, strongly supports the Arms Trade Treaty and will work to bring the Treaty into force by undergoing necessary domestic procedures.
4. The Arms Trade Treaty will take effect 90 days after the deposition of the ratification instrument by fifty countries. The ROK will take an active part in international efforts to bring the Treaty into force at an early date.
