 How to submit your visa application

- You may either submit your visa application in person or by mail

All consular visitors MUST make an appointment in advance (☞ CLICK)

* If you were unable to make an appointment, please submit your visa application by mail.



 Processing Time: 3-4 weeks 


We do not provide any expedited services. Thus, please plan accordingly for your travel plans and submit your visa application considering the aforementioned visa processing time.

PLEASE BE NOTED THAT THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.

 Consular Jurisdiction of Seattle

 Eligible Applicants for a Workation (Digital Nomad) (F-1-D) Visa

- A Person who has been employed in a foreign company (or owns foreign company) for more than 1 year and are able to work remotely in Korea, and their family. 

- Age: 18 year old or older (Dependent family can be younger).

 

□ Conditions for a Workation Visa 

- Must earn more than twice the Korean GNI(Gross National Income) per capita of the previous year as announced by the Bank of Korea, after tax deduction. 

*Current standard is 2024 Korean GNI per capita X 2. One must earn approx. $65,800 per year or $5,483 per month after tax deduction to apply for this visa.

- Do not have Criminal record.

- Has Medical insurance that covers 70,000 EURO for medical treatment and return to home country in case of emergency. Insurance must cover 1 year (stay in Korea). 

 

□ Status in Korea: Must not get employed in Korea or conduct profit work in Korea. Person must gain profit income by a Korean employer, business, or entity. 

 

□ General Required Documents

1. Visa application form 

* Please see attached 'VISA APPLICATION SAMPLE'   

* Please make sure you SIGN or it will be rejected 

* Please all areas on all pages are fully and accurately completed or it will be rejected 

2. Valid US passport (must be valid for more than 6 months) - in person

    Notarized copy of passport (Biographic data and signature page) - by mail

3. One Photo

* A physical/printed 2x2 photo taken within the last 6 months, DO NOT PRINT AT HOME

4. Fee $45 (for US citizens, Non-US citizens fees vary  View Fees by Country) 

Money Orders Only if you submit by mail (Payable to the Korean Consulate in Seattle)  

5. Non US citizens must also submit a notarized copy of valid US permanent resident card or valid long-term US visa 

6. Copy of valid Driver License or ID as proof of residency

7. Criminal history record check issued by FBI and apostille confirmation by US Department State office of Authentications (Washington D.C) It must be issued within 6 months before application submission (No Exceptions).  

 If you have lived in other country more than 6 months, you must submit the country's criminal record check with notarization or Apostille as well. (e.g. If you are a Canadian citizen and have lived in the U.S. more than 6 month, you need to submit the FBI background check with apostille confirmation AND the Fingerprints C.R.C. from RCMP with notarization by Korean Consulate in Canada)

 FBI criminal background check is only valid for 6 months from its date of issuance by the FBI (Not from the date of Apostille)

8. Employment Verification Letter that proves one's current employment and at least 1 year of employment in the past (Issued within 2 weeks from application date)

9. Documents proving your income (salary) (Pay stubs, bank account statements for last 3 months, tax returns)

10. Documents proving your Medical Insurance (including coverage details) 

11. Documents proving the family relations if applicable (Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate)

12. Parents' Certificate of Naturalization and applicant's birth certificate if a person whose parent(s) had a Korean Nationality and has acquired a US nationality (if applicable)

13. Basic Certificate (기본증명서) or Certificate of Family Registry (제적등본) AND US Certificate of Naturalization if a person who was Korean and has renounced Korean nationality (if applicable)

Notice for Workation Visa Holders



 For stay more than 91 days in the Republic of Korea, you need to apply for foreigner registration with the immigration (branch) office having jurisdiction over the place of your residence within 90 days from the date of entry into the country.


 If you have changed your place of residence, you must report the new address to either the immigration (branch) office or Si/Gun/Gu office having jurisdiction over the new place of residence within 14 days after moving in.


 The authorized period of stay is 1 year from the date of entry and can be extended up to 1 year. For extension of your stay, please visit a jurisdictional immigration office.


 While staying in the Republic of Korea with a Workation visa, employment activities in the territory of the ROK are strictly restricted, and any violation of this shall result in punishments in accordance with the Immigration Act.
