Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Fiji

Greetings. I am Kim Jin Hyung, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Fiji. Located in the center of the South Pacific region, Fiji has been a hub of politics, economy, transportation, and education for the region. Fiji is home to the Secretariat of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) and has played a pivotal role in facilitating cooperation among the 18 PIF members.

Korea and Fiji, since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1971, have fostered a robust relationship in various fields, including politics, economy, development, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. The inaugural Korea-Pacific Islands Summit held in Seoul in May 2023 marked a significant milestone, not only enhancing bilateral relations between Korea and Fiji but also strengthening cooperation with the broader Pacific region.

Fiji, renowned for its enchanting Blue Ocean and natural beauty, is a familiar tourist destination for many Koreans. Korea is committed to strengthening a reliable partnership with Fiji, a close friend of Korea, based on common values of freedom, human rights, and the rule of law. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Fiji is also accredited to five other Pacific Islands countries - the Republic of Kiribati, the Republic of Nauru, Tuvalu, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Federated States of Micronesia. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Fiji will continue to work together with those countries to strengthen cooperation and friendly relationships.

It is my sincere hope that our homepage can serve as a valuable platform for a deeper understanding of Korea's foreign policy and provide informative content for the Korean diaspora. Our embassy staff looks forward to contributing their best efforts, ensuring that Korea, as a global pivotal state, can enhance partnerships with Fiji and the five countries that lead the Pacific era, thereby opening a new chapter of engagement and cooperation.
