Full Implementation of Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA / Effective from 1st of September)

Starting from 1 September, 2021, travelers from countries that are required a K-ETA must hold a K-ETA by applying on the K-ETA website (or mobile app) at least 24 hours before their flight. Only K-ETA approved travelers will be able to board a flight bound to the Republic of Korea.

K-ETA implementation(Effective from 1st of September)

  • Visa-free foreign visitors need K-ETA approval in order to obtain the boarding pass and to enter the Republic of Korea. K-ETA is valid for multiple trips over a period of 2 years and the application fee is 10,000 KRW/person.

  • K-ETA is mandatory for nationals or citizens of 66 visa-waiver countries and 46 designated visa-free entry countries who plan to travel to the Republic of Korea. However, due to the COVID19, from September 1st ① nationals of 49 countries/region, where visa-free entry is available and ②「Priority Entry(Business)Persons」from the 63 visa-free entry suspended countries ave available to apply for K-ETA.

All measures will come into force at midnight local time on 13 April 2020.

Visa-free travel

  • Individuals from these countries who were previously eligible for visa-free travel to Korea are now required to apply for a visa before travel.

  • Individuals with a diplomatic or official passport holder, aircrew, crew members of ships, and people holding an APEC Business Travel Card(ABTC) are exempt from these new measures.

  • Travellers from affected countries who attempt to travel without a visa will be prevented from being issued with a boarding pass, or if already issued, will be prevented from boarding by the airline or ferry company. If they do manage to travel to Korea they will be denied entry by immigration services.

  • Individuals who try and travel to Korea without an updated visa will be barred from travel or prevented from entering Korea by immigration authorities.

  • 1. General Information

  • Hungarian passport holders do not require a Visa for the entry purpose of a short term visit (e.g., tours, visiting relatives or friends, attending simple meetings) up to 90 days.

  • Due to visa validity is for normally 3 months, for your schedule please apply for visa no more than 2 months in advance from the day of your entry.

  • The documents validity for visa application is three months only. Therefore, we cannot accept any documents which were issued more than 3 months before the date of your visa application has been accepted.

  • You can hold your passport during the visa process.

  • We do NOT provide ANY TRACKING SERVICE (You can check your visa progress by online, please click the banner "VISA APPLICATION STATUS" on the first page of our website )

  • If you plan to stay in Korea more than 90 days, you have to have a specific reason to stay in Korea to obtain a proper long-term Visa.

  • Please type or print clearly when you fill out the Visa application form AND DO NOT FORGET TO SIGN AT THE BOTTOM.

  • If there is a subsidiary company established in Korea, the president of the company as long as one has the necessary documents can apply for your work permit at the Immigration Office and obtain the certificate number of the Certificate for Confirmation of Visa Issuance.

  • Need at least 6 months validity on the passport to apply for a visa

  • 2. General Required Documents for Visa Application

  • Regardless of your Visa status, these items have to be submitted in order to obtain a Visa.

  • We can require more documents when needed.

  • A valid passport (A valid period of at least 6 months is required.)

  • A recent passport photo (3.5 x 4.5cm, color photo)

  • Fee payable to the Korean Embassy only by cash (HUF)


  • Single entry more than 90 days : HUF 21,600

  • Single entry less than 90 days: HUF 14,400

  • Multiple entry : HUF 32,400

  • No fees for A-1, A-2, and A-3 applicants

  • Please prepare photocopy along with original documents if you want to keep the original documents for yourself after Visa process. (Submitted documents will not be returned in any circumstances except for the passport.)

  • 3. e-Form Visa

  • For Electronic Form of visa application, please visit the URL: visa.go.kr/

  • An applicant can fill out an electronic visa application form online and submit it to the Visa Portal(https://www.visa.go.kr/main/openMain.do) before he/she visits a Korean diplomatic mission in his/her country of residence.

  • In order to complete the application process, you must print the e-form (with a bar code) that you filled out on the Visa Portal (with other required documents) and visit the Korean embassy or consulate general in your country of residence.

    Person with multiple nationalities who has both Korean nationality and foreign nationality is considered a Korean national, not a foreigner in Korea. The applicant’s visa hereby could be cancelled if he/she is proved to be a Korean national and not be a foreigner anymore even though the visa has been issued from the Korean government. Korean government may ask you to submit additional documents related to you and your parents’ nationality when you apply for a visa to check it.
