□ General Visa Information
Welcome to the Visa Service Section of Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the USA.
On November 17, 2008, the Republic of Korea joined the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP). As a result, on reciprocity, U.S. citizens can visit the Republic of Korea without a visa for duration of up to 90 days or less if the purpose of the trip is for tourism, business meeting, attendance at a conference or visiting families or relatives. (Extension of stay is not permitted)
A U.S. citizen, who is not qualified with VWP or not eligible to enter to Korea without a visa, is kindly requested to apply for an appropriate entry visa.
A U.S. citizen, who wishes to work, or to engage in profit making activities, is kindly requested to apply for an appropriate entry visa.
For U.S. citizens(only who was Korean or either of your parents/gradparents was Korean), a five year valid multiple entry F-4 Visa is issued. This visa holder can stay up to 2years each time he/she visits the Republic of Korea until their visas expire.

1. General Requirements for ALL Visa Application
① Valid passport(passport
must be valid for more than six months at the time of application submission)
② A copy of the biographic data page of the applicant's passport
③ Completed visa application form (download the appropriate form from the above attachments)
- General Visa Applicants must fill out VISA APPLICATION FORM
- Visa Issuance Confirmation Number (VICN)holders must fill out VISA ISSUANCE CONFIRMATION FORM
④ 1 passport photo (size
2" x 2", color) must be attached on the form (next to the section 1.1
, please use glue stick or scotch tape only)
⑤ Fee (Cash or Money Order Only ) : U.S. Citizens $45(same amount for
the single or multiple entries)

Non-U.S. citizens may pay diffrent amount based upon different visa
agreements between the applicant's country
and Korea
- General visa fees: $20 ~ $60(single entry), $90 or more
(multiple entries)
Certain single entry visa fees are over $100 depends on the agreements
Not
everyone is eligible to apply for a multiple entry visa
- No
fees for A-1, A-2, A-3 visa applicants

⑧ Processing time: Normally takes up to 5 business days
When
it requires additional supporting documents or needs further verification, the
processing time may take more than a week

2. Important Notice:
A person with multiple nationalities who has both Korean nationality and foreign nationality is considered a Korean national, not a foreigner in Korea. The applicant’s visa hereby could be cancelled if he/she is proved to be a Korean national and not be a foreigner anymore even though the visa has been issued from the Korean government. Korean government may ask you to submit additional documents related to you and your parents’ nationality when you apply for a visa to check it.
3. Submitting your visa application via mail is not currently allowed.
However, after submitting your visa application (in person) and, if you wish to have your passport with the visa mailed back to you, please bring a self-addressed and pre-paid Express Mail Envelope(with EMS stamp) provided by the U.S. Postal Service.
