Embassies designated to Issue a Visa to Afghan Applicants

Due to the difficulty to carry out visa-related work at this moment, the Korean Embassies in Iran, Turkmenisttan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and Karachi are temporarily designated as alternative missions for visa issuance for Afghan applicants.

Visa Requirements and Procedures

Important Notice for Visa Applicants

  • Visa applicants must submit with original documents. (It should be issued within 3 months)
  • Under normal circumstances, visa will be issued 14 days later from all submitted essential documents. However, visa issuance procedure and period vary depending on the circumstances of the designated Embassies. It is necessary to contact the Embassies to which you wish to apply in advance with sufficient time.
  • Visa cannot be withdrawn, when issued visa fee cannot be refunded and it must be used within 3 months from the date of issue

Visa Requirements

When applying for a visa, please submit the following:

Short-term General Visa

A person who plans to stay for a short period of time on the purpose of visiting relatives, investing in public business, participating in a non-official sport games, attending events or meetings, performing cultural art, engaging in a training, taking lessons, attending a religious ceremony, collecting documents for academic research, or any other equivalent activities.

  • Completed application forms for visa (available at the Embassy or Download on the website of Korean Embassy)
  • Original passport with at least 6 months' validity
  • If applicant enters Korea with passport of which validity is less than 6 months, applicant could be denied entry to Korea.
  • One recent photograph mentioned in application forms for visa
  • Original of Non-criminal record (Police clearance) which should be issued from Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Afghanistan
  • English translation of Non-criminal record (Police clearance) which should be issued from Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Afghanistan
  • Original and copy of Tazukira(Afghanistan National Id card) with English translation
  • Bank statement of applicant’s personal account
  • Additional documents : according to applicant’s visiting purpose and relevant situations, the following documents could also be required.
  • Certificate of employment
  • An invitation letter issued from the Korean side (with Notarization)
  • A reference issued from the Korean side (with Notarization)
  • A unique number certification or a business certification issued from the Korean side
  • Copy of return ticket, (needed only after applicant’s documents meet the other requirements
  • Copy of hotel reservation (tourists only)
  • Visa fee (40 USD)
  • etc

Business Visitor Visa

People who plans to engage in commercial activities such as market research, business meetings, consultation, signing a contract, or small-scale international trading or an APEC card holder visiting Korea without a visa

  • Original passport with at least 6 months' validity
  • ne recent photograph (3.5cm x 4.5cm Passport size)
  • Completed visa forms (available at the Embassy or Download from Website of Korean Embassy)
  • An invitation letter which should be issued from Korean side (with Notarization)
  • A reference which should be issued from Korean side (with Notarization)
  • A unique number certification or a business certification which should be issued from Korean side
  • An invoice which should be issued from Korean side
  • An invitee’s business license with a translation
  • Non-criminal record letter with a translation
  • Copy of Tazukira(Afghanistan National Id card) with a translation
  • A bank statement issued within 90 days and with Balance of more than $5,000
  • Visa fee (40 USD)
  • If a inviter doesn’t have a Korean citizenship, inviter’s copy of certificate of alien registration is needed

Student Visa

  • Original passport with at least 6 months' validity
  • One recent photograph (3.5cm x 4.5cm Passport size)
  • Completed visa forms (available at the Embassy or Download from the Website of Korean Embassy)
  • A certificate of admission
  • A reference which must be issued from Korean side (with Notarization)
  • A unique number certification or a business certification which must be issued from Korean side
  • A diploma or transcript
  • A bank statement issued within 90 days and with Balance of more than $5,000
  • Visa fee (60 USD)
