General Visa Information

A visa can be applied for no earlier than three months before the intended date of entry.
Applications may be submitted either in person or through an agency.
An appointment is not required.
The processing time for the issuance of a visa is generally ten working days.
Please note that online applications are not possible.
Documents submitted online will not be reviewed.
A biometric passport photo (3.5 X 4.5 cm) that complies with the applicable biometric standards must be submitted with the application.
Documents must be submitted in both original and copy; however, generally only the copies are retained.
If a person holds dual citizenship and/or two passports, copies of all passports must be submitted.
All documents are accepted only in German, English, and/or Korean. If documents are not in one of these languages, an official translation is required.
Payment method: cash upon submission of the application.
Payment by debit or credit card is not possible.
Certificate for Confirmation of Visa Issuance: In certain cases, the inviting party (Korean company, language institute, university, etc.) must apply for a Certificate for Confirmation of Visa Issuance in Korea. This application will be reviewed and decided by the Korean Ministry of Justice or the local Immigration Office. If the issuance of the visa is approved, the applicant will receive a visa number. With this number, a visa can be applied for in Austria.

Applications from Kosovo can be submitted via DHL shipping and pick-up service. In this case, the applicant must send a request by e-mail in advance.

Diplomacy (A-1)

Foreign Government Official (A-2)

Short-Term General (C-3-1)

Not-for-profit attendance at various events or meetings (e.g. conferences, sporting, art/cultural events, competitions or auditions)

Visa for Former Koreans and Their Children (F-4)

Former Korean nationals and their children who now hold Austrian citizenship may stay in Korea for up to two years with this visa. The validity of the visa is five years.
