General Visa Information

• A visa can be applied for at the earliest three months before the desired date of entry.
• Applications can be submitted either in person or via an agency.
• The documents must be submitted in the original and in copies, but only copies will be retained.
• All documents will only be accepted in German, English and/or Korean. If the documents are not in German, English and/or Korean, an official translation is required.
• Visa processing requires generally 10 working days.
• You do not need an appointment for a visa application.
• Our office is open for correspondence at the following times: Monday to Friday from 9:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00.
• Please note that an online application is not possible.
• Documents submitted online will not be reviewed by us.
• Payment : Cash when submitting the application
• Payment by debit or credit card is not possible.
• Certificate for Confirmation of Visa Issuance: In certain cases, the inviting party (Korean company, language institute, university, etc.) must apply for a Certificate for Confirmation of Visa Issuance in Korea. This application will be reviewed and decided by the Korean Ministry of Justice or the local Immigration Office. If the issuance of the visa is approved, the applicant will receive a visa number. With this number, a visa can be applied for in Austria.

Types of visa

Visas are generally required:

• Austrian passport holders can visit the Republic of Korea without visa for 90 days for the purpose of tourism or visitation.
• If you plan to stay in Korea more than 90 days, you must have a specific reason to stay in Korea and obtain a proper long-term visa

• Kosovar nationals can apply for a visa either in person at our office during normal business hours or DHL . We do not assume any liability for late, lost or misdirected mail.

Diplomacy (A-1)

• a fully completed application form
• Passport photo (colour photo 3.5 X 4.5 cm)
• Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
• Passport copy
• Copy of the Austrian/Kosovar resident permit (Aufenthaltstitel and Meldezettel) (if you are not a Austrian or Kosovar citizen)
• Temporary duty order, statement of employment or official letter from the sending government to certify the applicant's status.
• Certificate of Family Relationship for families of duty officer (Birth Certificate or Marriage Certificate)
• Visa fee is waived.

Foreign Government Official (A-2)

• a fully completed application form
• Passport photo (colour photo 3.5 X 4.5 cm)
• Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
• Passport copy
• Copy of the Austrian/Kosovar resident permit (Aufenthaltstitel and Meldezettel) (if you are not a Austrian or Kosovar citizen)
• Temporary duty order, statement of employment or official letter from the sending government to certify the applicant's status.
• Certificate of Family Relationship for families of duty officer (Birth Certificate or Marriage Certificate)
• Visa fee is waived.

Short-Term General (C-3-1)

Not-for-profit attendance at various events or meetings (e.g. conferences, sporting, art/cultural events, competitions or auditions)

• a fully completed application form
• Passport photo (colour photo 3.5 X 4.5 cm)
• Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
• Passport copy
• Copy of the Austrian/Kosovar resident permit (Aufenthaltstitel and Meldezettel) (if you are not a Austrian or Kosovar citizen)
• Invitation letter from the Korean company/organisation
• A copy of business registration certificate
• Employment letter
• Sufficient financial means(salary slips and bank statements for last three month) in Austria/Kosovo
• Proof of hotel reservation
• Proof of return flight (upon collection of the visa)

Medical Tourist (C-3-3)

• a fully completed application form
• Passport photo (colour photo 3.5 X 4.5 cm)
• Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
• Passport copy
• Copy of the Austrian/Kosovar resident permit (Aufenthaltstitel and Meldezettel) (if you are not a Austrian or Kosovar citizen)
• Invitation letter
• Documents proving your medical issues such as a record of diagnosis or a doctor's note
• Confirmed doctor's appointment at the Korean hospital
• Certificate of Medical Travel Facilitator Registration (의료관광 유치기관 등록증)
• Proof of work(certificate of employment)
• Sufficient financial means(salary slips and bank statements for last three month) in Austria/Kosovo
• Additional documents proving familiy relationship if the patient invites family members (one of the following: copy of family register, birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.)
• Proof of hotel reservation
• Proof of return flight (upon collection of the visa)

Tourist (C-3-9)

• a fully completed application form
• Passport photo (colour photo 3.5 X 4.5 cm)
• Passport (valid for at least 6 months)

Short-Term Employee (C-4)

• a fully completed application form

Students (D-2)

General Trainee (D-4)

• a fully completed application form

If you leave Korea with the intention of returning before the expiration of your period of stay, you are required to obtain a re-entry permit from the Immigration Office in Korea before leaving.

Researcher (E-3)

• a fully completed application form
• Passport photo (colour photo 3.5 X 4.5 cm)
• Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
• Passport copy
• Copy of the Austrian/Kosovar resident permit (Aufenthaltstitel and Meldezettel) (if you are not a Austrian or Kosovar citizen)
• Number of Certificate for Confirmation of Visa Issuance issued by the Ministry of Justice of Korea
• You may alternatively submit the following documents:
  • Certificate of academic degree (master's or doctoral degree)
  • Copy of the Austrian certificate of registration (Meldebestätigung) (if you are not a Austrian or Kosovar citizen)
  • Employment contract or a certificate of a pending contract
  • Copy of the Korea entity's business registration certificate or other verification document from the Korean entity
  • Employment contract or a certificate of a pending contract

• If you leave Korea with the intention of returning before the expiration of your period of stay, you are required to obtain a re-entry permit from the Immigration Office in Korea before leaving.

Visa for Former Koreans and Their Children (F-4)

Former Korean nationals and their children who now hold Austrian citizenship may stay in Korea for up to two years with this visa. The validity of the visa is five years.

• a fully completed application form

• Austrian naturalization certificate
• Proof of renunciation of Korean nationality (제적등본, 기본증명서, 가족관계증명서 등)

Dependent Family (F-3)

  • Documents that prove the family relationship (marriage certificate, copy of family register or birth certificate)
  • Certificate of Incumbency of Inviting Parties and a Certificate of Tax Payment

Visa for spouses of Korean citizens: (F-6)
