  1. About the Mission
  2. Consul General’s Greetings

Welcome to
the website of the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Brisbane.

The Consulate was officially opened in 2022 with 2021 decision to establish a mission as we commemorate the auspicious 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Australia. The Consulate is entrusted with the meaningful task of consular services in Queensland, which includes Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and Cairns in northeastern Australia.

Queensland is blessed with abundant natural resources and a mild climate. And this in turn has allowed for the nurturing of numerous industries such as agriculture, mining, tourism, ICT and ect. It is much loved for its magnificent natural monuments and assets, including the world's largest coral reef system on the Great Barrier Reef and seemingly endless white sand beaches in the Gold Coast. Moreover, it is Australia's second largest region and hosts the third largest population, accounting for approximately 18.5 percent of the country's overall GDP. In the process of preparing for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics, it is predicted to achieve even more remarkable growth for the decade onwards.

Accordingly, it is a region with anet increase of population net-increase in the population from overseas and other states of Australia. In fact, it is also a very popular destination for many Koreans, including those on working holidays, studies, and tourism. Moreover, with their serious effort, Korean community comprising over 30,000 people, has been valued and respected amongst the local community.

The Consulate will spare no effort in providing quality services to Koreans, while promoting safety, well-being and interests of the Korean people in Queensland. We will also seek to broaden the horizons of the bilateral cooperation with Queensland in a range of fields including the economy, education, culture, arts and sports. In so doing we hope to even further the bonds of friendship between Koreans and Australians.

We would indeed appreciate your much valued interest and support. Thank you very much.
