Welcome to the official website of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva.

The birthplace of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Geneva Conventions on humanitarian treatment in war, Geneva has been widely known as the “Peace Capital” of the world. Since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, Geneva has been increasingly valued as the ‘Public Heath Capital’ of the world, with the World Health Organization and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, being headquartered in the city.

Geneva is also the hub of multilateral diplomacy and hosts the largest number of international organizations in the world. More than 40 intergovernmental organizations, including the World Trade Organization and the United Nations Geneva Office, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, International Labour Organization, World Intellectual Property Organization, International Telecommunication Union, and over 400 non-governmental organizations are situated in Geneva. Despite the unprecedented COVID-19 situation, no less than 4,000 meetings are held in Geneva annually, both in-person and virtually, covering a whole range of global issues including trade, health, development, human rights, disarmament, humanitarian assistance and many more.

While the Mission vigorously works on behalf of Korea’s national interests at various Geneva-based organizations, it will continue to make active contributions to enhancing multilateral cooperation in the service of humanity’s collective interest. The Mission will also continue to endeavor to strengthen Korea’s standing and support increased participation of able Koreans in international organizations.
