Quarantine Exemption Certificate for Important Business Purpose, Academic/Public Purpose (Suspended from June 8th, 2022)

Please be noted that issuance of Quarantine Exemption Certificate for Important Business Purpose, Academic/Public Purpose has been suspended since June 8th, 2022.

□ Quarantine Exemption Certificate for Important Business/ Academic Activities □

1. Eligibility

Important Business Purpose

Academic/Public Purpose

(1) Korean national or foreign nationals with a valid visa for entering Korea

(2) Those who obtained qurantine exemption approval

from the relevant Korean government ministries

- Criteria for Approval: The importance, urgency, inevitability, and epidemiological risks of the project.

(3) Business purpose must be one of the followings.

- A small number of essential personnel, such as executive level.

- Contracts and agreements (evidence required)

- Works that must be carried out in the field, such as facility construction and field technology transfer, etc.

- Other essential tasks that determine that quarantine exemption is inevitable.

(1) Korean national or foreign national with a valid visa for entering Korea

(2) Those who obtained quarantine exemption approval from the relevant Korean government ministries

- Criteria for Approval: The importance, urgency, inevitability, epidemiological risks of the project

(3) Academic/Public purpose must be one of the followings.

- Athletes for Olympic

- Medical personnel to transport emergency patients

- Personnel participating in additional events of commemorative events above the vice-minister level

- Visits for public purposes recognized by the relevant Korean government ministries

※ Therefore, an exchange program is not included.

**C-3 type visa holders can apply for K-ETA from 1st of September. Please refer to the relevant notice.

2. Procedure

① Inviting Businesses/Organizations must apply for quarantine exemption to 'Business Travel Support Center(BTSC)' (☏1566-8110)

② The BTSC will distribute the application to the ministry responsible for their business/Academy

※ The type of ministry responsible will be decided at this stage depending on the business/academic type of the inviting company

③ The ministry responsible will review the application and communicate the results to the applicant

④ The ministry responsible will request the Quarantine Exemption Certificate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Overseas Diplomatic Mission)

※In the case of (1) Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy(산업통상자원부) and (2) Ministry of SMEs and Startups (중소벤처기업부), the ministries will directly issue the Certificate to the applicant.

⑤ Overseas Diplomatic Mission (Embassy or Consulate) will issue the Quarantine Exemption Certificate to the applicant

※In the case of Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Denmark, we issue the certificate to the email address written on the application.

3. How to Apply/ Where to Contact

4. After you get Quarantine Exemption Certificate for Important Business/ Academic/ Public Purpose

ㅇ Please print out 4 copies (you get 1 doc, you print it 4) and bring them with you when you enter Korea.

If you do not bring a printed copy, your quarantine exemption certificate might not be valid.

ㅇProvide a result of negative PCR test, which took place within 48 hours of the departure date when entering Korea (please print it out)

ㅇ Get a PCR COVID-19 test upon arrival in Korea and wait for the result at the temporary living facility

ㅇTake an additional COVID-19 diagnostic test with 6-7 days of entry
