[Unvaccianted People] Facility Quarantine for travelers (short-term visitors) to Korea

Arrival in Korea

 In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, all inbound travellers (including returning Korean nationals) are required to quarantine themselves for 10 days upon their arrival in Korea starting from 01 November, 2021. From 4th of February, 2022,  the quarantine period has been shortened from 10 days to 7 days.

From 1st of April, 2022, those who were vaccinated abroad can register their vaccination certificate at Q-Code, and be possibly exempted from quarantine ​through evaluation by officers of quarantine control and immigration control in the Republic of Korea.

(Updated) The mandatory quarantine for an entrant to Korea is lifted on June 8, 2022.

-There is no mandatory quarantine, regardless of your history of vaccination, a type of visa etc.

​1. ★ 7 days Facility Quarantine ★

① Foreign nationals who are *short-term visitors  in Korea,

* Short-term visitors can stay in Korea only for up to 90 days because they don't have a long-term visa. (e.g. K-ETA holders)

② Korean nationals and/or foreign residents whose place of residence is deemed not suitable for quarantine, 

will serve the quarantine at a designated government facility at their own cost (KRW 1,680,000 per person). The Agreement to Facility Quarantine (refer to attachment) must be completed and submitted to the airlines.

    ※ Quarantine facilities are randomly assigned and cannot be changed for personal reasons.

    ※ Transportation from the airport to the government facility will be provided.​


2. 7 days Self-Quarantine

① Foreign nationals who have a long-term visa or ② Korean nationals will serve the quarantine at your residence.


③ If Korean nationals and foreign nationals(long-term visa holders) who reside in Korea are within your 3 degree of kindship, you may self-quarantine in the Korean national/long-term resident's place of residence instead of government Facility by providing official Family relations documents.



3. Quarantine Exemption

    1) A-1, A-2 and A-3 visa holders with negative test results from COVID-19 diagnostic testing will be subjected to "Active Monitoring" (instead of 7 days quarantine), which includes daily submission of health status information via the 'Self Diagnosis App' and phone calls from health authorities throughout their stay in Korea.

    2) Only those who applied for and received Quarantine Exemption Certificate from the relevant authority.

    -Those who received vaccinations abroad and visiting an immediate family in Korea. (suspended from December 3rd, 2021) ※Only for those vaccinated in Denmark can apply for exemption to Korean Embassy in Denmark


    -Those who are going to Korea for Business/Academic activities. >>Click<<

     ※ The inviting Company in Korea can apply for your quarantine exemption to Business Travel Support Centre(BTSC).
