★ [Vaccinated People] Introduction of Q-Code (Quarantine Covid19 Defense) System (Updates from June 1st)

(Updated) The mandatory quarantine for an entrant to Korea is lifted on June 8, 2022.

-There is no mandatory quarantine, regardless of your history of vaccination, a type of visa etc.

KDCA(Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency)has established 'Q-Code(Quarantine Covid19 defense) system to shorten the time of quarantine inspection required upon entry to the Repubic of Korea and to improve the convenience for overseas entrants.

To be registered with Q-Code, you must input your information by following each step from below.

※ [PLEASE READ] You can only  completing to input all the information on the Q-Code website within 2 days from your departure date because one of the information you must input is the PCR(Supervised RAT) negative test result which must take place within 48 (24) hours from departure date.




< Quarantine Exemption Process through Q-Code>


1. Eligibility

​※ WHO Covid-19 vaccine for emergecy use : Pfizer, Janssen, Moderna, AZ, Covishield (AZ-Serum Institute of India), Sinopharm (Beijing), Sinovec, Covaxin, Novavax, Covovax, Cansino


(1) Those who completed vaccination in Korea - refers to an individual WHO has completed the second vaccination* as of the date of admission into Korea or WHO has completed the third (booster) vaccination following the second vaccination and can verify the immunization history.

-Starting from March 21, 2022

​* 14 to 180 days following the second dosage of a vaccination (1st dose for Janssen) that has been approved in Korea

- (Verification) After putting information into the pre-entry system for quarantine information (Q-CODE), check vaccination history using the given QR code.

※ Those who have completed vaccination in Korea are immediately enrolled in the pre-entry system (You do not have to attach a certificate)

(2) Those who completed vaccination outisde of Korea - refers to an individual WHO has completed the second vaccination* as of the date of admission into Korea or WHO has completed the third (booster) vaccination following the second vaccination and can verify the immunization history.

-Starting from April 1, 2022

* 14 to 180 days following the second dosage of a vaccination (1st dose for Janssen) that has been approved in Korea 

 - (Verification) After putting information into the pre-entry system for quarantine information (Q-CODE), check vaccination history using the given QR code.

※ Those who have completed  overseas vaccination are required to attach a certificate of immunization history to the pre-entry system


(3) Those who are under age 18-  ​If 14 days have passed since the second dose of vaccination for a person under the age of 18 as of the date of entry (even if it exceeds 180 days), it will be considered as having completed vaccination in Korea or overseas. 

-Starting from June 1, 2022

- (Verification) After putting information into the pre-entry system for quarantine information (Q-CODE), check vaccination history using the given QR code.

※ Those who have completed  overseas vaccination are required to attach a certificate of immunization history to the pre-entry system


(4) Children under age 6 are exempted from quarantine when all the accompanying parents have been vaccinated and have successfully registered their vaccination status on Q-Code.

-> (Starting from June 1, 2022) Those who are under age 12 - If a child under 12 years old on the date of entry enters Korea with a fully vaccinated adult (and who have successfully registered their vaccination status on Q-code), it will be considered as having completed vaccination in Korea or overseas 

(5) A person with a history of confirmed infection  - Those who have completed the 2nd shot (1st for Janssen) with a history of COVID-19 infection will be managed the same way as those who received the 3rd shot (even if 180 days have passed after the vaccination, they will be recognized).


- (Verification) After putting information into the pre-entry system for quarantine information (Q-CODE), check vaccination history using the given QR code. Upon entering the country, submit documents (Korean or English) with the date of diagnosis (PCR test results, proof of complete recovery, etc.) to quarantine officers.


2. Procedure (Q-Code Website: https://cov19ent.kdca.go.kr/)

- In STEP 5, you must upload the file for the certificate of vaccination

※ You must also hold a vaccination certificate when entering Korea.

- In STEP 6, you must upload PCR Negative Test Result, which must be issued within 48 hours before your departure date, (from 23rd of May) or a supervised negative COVID-19 RAT result, which must be issued within 24 hours prior to the departure date.

※ You must also hold a PCR negative test result in paper when entering Korea.

3. General Rules on​ Q-CODE

- The quarantine information input in Q-code shall be saved by encoding in QR-Code. If any correction is needed for your quarantine information, you may start from the beginning to input information in the system and receive a new QR-Code. However, the correction of health information will be possible regardless of the issuance of QR-Code.
 
- If the correction of quarantine information has not been made until your arrival at the Republic of Korea due to an inevitable situation, you must notify the changed information to the concerned quarantine officer in Korea. Otherwise, you may be subject to the disadvantage of quarantine action reinforced by the Quarantine Authority of Korea.

-Input of Q-code may not guarantee quarantine and entry to the Republic of Korea. After arrival, the conditions of entry and quarantine shall be finally determined through evaluation by officers of quarantine control and immigration control in the Republic of Korea.

-If you input false or inaccurate information related to the Q-code, you may incur a penalty or be subjected to entry restriction in accordance with the relevant laws and ordinances of the Republic of Korea. The same law applies when you submit false or inaccurate QR-code by proxy.

-Please submit Q-code issued after the complete input of quarantine information to the airline personnel upon boarding and to the quarantine officer at the entry inspection.
