- Korea, China join forces in responding to cyber threats, strengthening industry cooperation

The Ministry held the "2nd Korea-China Cyber Security Forum", in cooperation with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and companies from Korea and China, on December 21 at COEX in Seoul, to discuss ways to strengthen public and private-sector partnerships in cyber security between Korea and China. The was first held in Beijing in October, 2015, to serve as an annual council for discussing cyber security-related issues. The event includes policy and business forums to share the latest issues in cyber security and discuss joint solutions and responses.

The second forum was also composed of a policy discussion program and a corporate business forum; the cyber security policy council for the governments of both parties, held in the morning prior to the business forum, was attended by representatives from Korea's Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, the Korea Internet and Security Agency, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (Directorate of Internet Security Management), the China Academy of Information and Communication Technology and the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China, who met to discuss cyber security partnerships between the governments of Korea and China. The participants agreed that the cross-border nature of cyber security issues mandated close collaboration between countries in mounting responses to key threats, and outlined plans to further bolster information sharing and response cooperation and conduct joint simulated training.
