Greetings to all visitors of our homepage.
The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Georgia was established in 1992. Korea first opened its consular office in Tbilisi in 2015, and in November 2024 it decided to elevate the consular office to an embassy to further strengthen friendship and ties between the two countries. With my arrival in February 2025 as the first, resident ambassador to Georgia, our mission in Tbilisi became a full-fledged embassy, and we expect that year 2025 will be marked as the year that began anew expansion in bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two nations.
Along with a recent surge in people-to-people exchanges, economic cooperation between the two countries is ready to take a great leap forward. For instance, the Economic Partnership Agreement, which was agreed in November 2024, is looking to be signed and enacted soon. Once enacted, it will provide a foundation for a significant growth in bilateral trade and investment between the two countries. For our part, the embassy will continue to explore and expand areas of potential cooperation that can bring about real benefits to both countries.
Georgia, nestled between the Black Sea and the Caucasus mountain ranges, boasts beautiful natural sceneries and rich cultural heritage in all realms, including history, arts and literature. Also, as the oldest wine producing country spanning eight thousand years, its culinary tradition is a true delight to all who visit the country. Korean visitors to Georgia, in particular, has increased significantly in recent years from 14,000 in 2023 to 26,000 in 2024.
Our embassy while supporting Korean community here and visitors from Korea, will do our utmost to further deepen and expand future partnership and cooperation between our two great nations.
We ask for your continued support! Thank you.
