NOTICE TO ALL TRAVELERS TO KOREA(updated DEC 6)

This page provides an overview of the entry requirements and quarantine measures of Korea. You are encouraged to refer to the individual links listed on this page for more details.


Before Entry


1. Check if you have a valid K-ETA or Visa


※ All superintendents and engineers who travel to Korea for work(attend vessel, supervise etc.) must apply proper visa regardless of length of stay in Korea. K-ETA is not applicable.

ㅇ K-ETA is eligible for 112 countries.

Greeks,Cypriots and Albanians are eligible


ㅇ K-ETA only covers activities such as Tourism, Business meetings, Discussions, Conferences, Short-term study, Family visit etc. with stay below 90 days


ㅇ K-ETA is valid for 2 years once issued and applicant can stay up to allowed period of stay on each entrance.

Greece(90 days), Cyprus (30 days), Albania(30 days) 


ㅇ It takes around 72 hours to receive the result for K-ETA. (It does not give you immediate result)


ㅇ K-ETA eligibility depends on your nationality, not country of residence or departure.

ㅇ Nationals who are not eligible to apply K-ETA or travelers who plan to stay in Korea for longer than 90 days or whose  purpose of visit is not covered by K-ETA, must obtain appropriate visa.


 The Embassy shall have enough time to thoroughly review all the applications, which may take more than two weeks. Applicant is recommended to apply visa at least 3 weeks in advance before departure.


C-31 (Visiting Family, Conference, Competition, Training etc.)

ㅇ In view of safe distancing measures, applicants are required to make an appointment before visit the Embassy. To make an appointment, please click HERE.


ㅇ If you are not eligible to receive visa, your visa application can be refused.



2. Mandatory Pre-Departure Negative Covid19 test result


※ All travelers who enters Korea on September 3rd or later are no longer need to hold a negative RAT or PCR test result taken within 24 hours and 48 hours before departure.

All travelers entering Republic of Korea are required to present a negative molecular test result (PCR test) for COVID-19 issued within 48 hours prior to their departure or a negative Rapid Test result issued within 24 hours prior to their departure


ㅇ If travelers are unable to submit the result or submit report which does not comply with the aforementioned conditions, permission to enter ROK may be denied.


ㅇ The test result must be issued in English or Korean


ㅇ Certificate must include name, date of birth(or passport no.), type of test, test result, test performed date, issue date, name of institution/hospital, and signature or stamp of institution/hospital.


ㅇ Infants and children under the age of 6(as of entry date) are exempted from submitting a negative PCR/Rapid result.

3. Q-CODE (Quarantine Information Pre-entry System)


ㅇ All travelers regardless of vaccination history, are exempted from undergoing mandatory quarantine(June 8 2022 ).

ㅇ Entrants may use the Q-code system in order to shorten the time for quarantine inspection and avail of conveniences upon entry to the Republic of Korea.

ㅇ Travelers can take a flight or enter Korea even if you don't have Q-CODE. But you may wait quiet a while at the quarantine office in the airport/port to proceed quarantine inspection.

 After Entry


1. On-Arrival PCR within 1 day after arrival


※ The on-arrival PCR test requirement is lifted from 01 October 2022.

 (1) Korean Nationals, Long-term residence permit/visa holder  --- Covered by Korean Government

   - PCR test to be taken at Public Health Center(보건소) near your house/accomodation 


 (2) Short-term visitors(Foreigners)   --- Own expenses

   - PCR test to be taken at Incheon Airport Covid19 Testing Center

     ※ It is recommended to make reservation before you arrive at the airport.

     ※ Only few cases are allowed to take PCR from other medical institution.


ㅇ Travelers are not allowed to move until you receive negative result from on-arrival PCR test(Quarantine at your accomodation until you receive negative result).

ㅇ Taking the on-arrival PCR is compulsory even if the traveler will stay in Korea for 1 days or less.

ㅇ If the on-arrival test result is positive, quarantine is required.
