ㅇ About the lecture

In the past decade, Korean dramas have transformed from a local force into a global cultural force. South Korea has established itself as a major player in the soft power arena, and dramas play a leading role in spreading Korean culture around the world, including in Israel. Until recently, Korean culture and language were perceived as distant to the Israeli audience, and the success of the dramas allows us to examine broad processes of globalization and media flow in the digital age.

ㅇ Lecturer: Dr. Guy Shabbo

Historian and researcher of Korea, and lecturer at Tel Aviv University and Tel Hai. Specializes in digital humanities, and deals with spiritual and material life in ancient Korea, alongside an interest in contemporary popular culture.
