Notice for Digital Nomad (Workcation) Visa

Digital Nomad (Workcation) Visa


1. Visa Application

▪︎ At Diplomatic missions abroad (of the Republic of Korea)

▪︎ Local immigration office if staying in Korea



2. Eligible Applicants for Visa

▪︎ (Eligibility) Overseas business owners or foreigners affiliated with international companies who can work remotely and have worked in the same industry for at least one year, and their accompanying family members(spouse and minor children)

▪︎ (Age) 18 years of (full) age or older (Except for dependent children)



3. Income Requirements

▪︎ Those with more than twice the GNI per capita of the previous year as announced by the Bank of Korea 

→︎ GNI per capita as of 2022 - KRW 42.48 million (3.54 million Korean won per month)

→︎ Twice the GNI per capita -  KRW 84.96 million (7.08 million Korean won per month)



4. Subscription to Medical Insurance

▪︎ It is mandatory to subscribe to individual medical insurance with coverage of at least KRW 100 million for medical treatment and repatriation to home country during stay.



5. Documents to Submit

▪︎ Visa application form (Form No. 17), passport, 1 standard size photo, fee

▪︎ Documents proving income such as certificate of employment, certificateof salary and bank transaction certificate

▪︎ Criminal record certificate, certificate of medical insurance, and certificate of family relations (if accompanied by dependents)

※ An Apostille (or Consular Legalization) is required for official documents issued abroad such as criminal record certificates and family relation certificates



6. Stay in Korea

▪︎ (Period of stay) One year is granted from the date of entry when registering as a foreigner and extendable for one additional year (maximum 2 years)

▪︎ (Employment Activities) Employment/profit-making activities are restricted

▪︎ (Change of Status) Those staying in Korea on a short-term tourist visa (B-1, B-2, C-3) are allowed to change to a Digital Nomad (Workcation) visa when meeting the relevant requirements
