I am honored to become the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Chennai when the relationship between Korea and India are fast expanding and strengthening.
Chennai is the capital city of the state of Tamil Nadu, and there are more than 300 Korean companies, and 5,000 Korean people. The Korean community is the largest expatriate community here.
These days in India, Korean products are present at each and every home and office, and every fifth car running in the streets is manufactured by a Korean automobile company.
Koreans and people of Tamil Nadu enjoy several traditional and cultural similarities – both consume rice as staple food, respect elders, cherish family relationships and give importance to education. Based on these similarities, Korea and South India will be able to expand and strengthen their relationship further.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chennai will be committed to promote cooperation in the area of economic, cultural and personal exchanges with South India (Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh). We will make our efforts to increase awareness of Korea and Korean culture in South India. The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chennai will offer best services to Korean residents and companies, as well as provide necessary protection to overseas Korean nationals.
