Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Attends Iranian Presidential Inauguration Ceremony



Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Chung Byung-won, representing the government, attended the inauguration ceremony of the 14th Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, held in Tehran, Iran, on July 30.

 

Iranian media reported that the inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives from approximately 80 countries, including the Prime Minister of Iraq, the Speaker of the House of the Russian Federation, the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Vice President of the National People's Congress of China, the Under-Secretary-General of the European Union's Office for External Relations, the Egyptian Foreign Minister, and ambassadors from various countries to Iran.

 

At the inauguration ceremony and welcome banquet, Deputy Minister Chung had conversations with newly appointed President Pezeshkian, Speaker of the Parliament Qalibaf, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Bagheri-Kani, and Chairman of the Inauguration Ceremony Preparation Committee (former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs) Araghchi.

 

Deputy Minister Chung congratulated President Pezeshkian on his inauguration during a sideline meeting and expressed his hope for continued development of the friendly relations between Korea and Iran that have lasted for over 60 years. President Pezeshkian agreed on the importance of bilateral relations between Korea and Iran and expressed his hope that the cooperative relationship between the new Iranian government and Korea would become closer.

 

Deputy Minister Chung’s attendance at this inauguration ceremony is evaluated as laying the foundation for enhancing cooperative relations with the new Iranian government, based on the recent active high-level exchanges between the two countries.
