Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar

Blessed with a vast territory which amounts to three times the size of the Korean Peninsula, as well as rich natural resources and capable and young labour forces, Myanmar is set to become a linchpin for future growth and development in Southeast Asia.

Since the establishment of their diplomatic ties in May 1975, the Republic of Korea and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar have continued to tighten their bonds of cooperation spanning such fields as the political, economic and socio-cultural spheres.

In light of volatile situations following the declaration of a national emergency in February 2021, the current priority of the Embassy is on the safety of the Korean nationals and the protection of Korean companies. Furthermore, in close cooperation with the Korean Association in Myanmar, the Embassy is disseminating safety information, as necessary, and making every effort to safeguard the rights of Korean business entities.

Despite the current difficulties, the Embassy remains committed to playing a constructive role for the progress of bilateral relations.
