Student Visa (D-2)

1. Eligibility to apply for a Student Visa (D-2)


You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are;


• Associate Degree (D-2-1): A person who plans to enroll for a associate degree


• Bachelor's Degree (D-2-2): A person who plans to enroll for a bachelor


• Master's Degree (D-2-3): A person who plans to enroll for a master


• Doctoral Degree (D-2-4): A person who plans to enroll for a doctoral degree


• Research Study (D-2-5): A person who plans to engage in research activities at a college, undergraduate/graduate college


• Exchange Student (D-2-6): An exchange student who plans to study, according to a degree exchange program between universities



2. Required Documents


▢ Norwegian or Icelandic passport holders;

② Physical Passport (more than 6 months valid) & Copy (personal information section with photo)


 A copy of Business Registration Certificate issued by host university in Korea


 A copy of Certificate of Admission issued by host university in Korea

- This certificate should include the Certificate of Admission Number.


 Fee: 600 NOK



▢ Non-Norwegian or Non-Icelandic passport holders;

② Physical Passport (more than 6 months valid) & Copy (personal information section with photo)

*For Non-Norwegian or Non-Icelandic passport holders are required to submit a residence certificate (Bostedsattest) or a copy of residence card (Non-EU citizens) to apply for a visa through us.


 A copy of Business Registration Certificate issued by host university in Korea


 A copy of Certificate of Admission issued by host university in Korea

- This certificate should include the Certificate of Admission Number.


 Original copy of documents proving your financial ability to support yourself

- When submitting a parent's bank statement, family relation certificate is required to submit.


 Documents proving that you have completed at least one semester (Proof of enrollment from a university)


 Fee: 600 NOK

*Visa fees vary depending on the nationality.



▢ Additional documents for the Research Study Visa (D-2-5): Research Student Confirmation Form issued by host university in Korea

Certificate of Admission is not required when applying for the D-2-5 visa.



※ Since Korea and Norway are members of the Apostille Convention, documents issued by Norwegian educational institutions should be notarized with Apostille. Apostilles can be obtained from Statsforvalteren. Please note that the Embassy does not notarize Norwegian academic documents.



3. Please Note


❍ Please be informed that it takes about 10 working days to issue a visa after submitting all physical documents to the Embassy. Reservation is required before visiting the Embassy.



❍ Periods of stay for this visa will be granted initially for up to 2 years.

- Please be informed that the period of stay for the student visa is granted the same as the period of stay indicated on the Certificate of AdmissionUsually, the period of Certificate of Admission is granted including the settlement period. If you want to extend your stay, contact the host university in Korea.


❍ Specific visas including student visa can only be issued as a single-entry visa.

The single-entry visa is valid for 3 months. Do not apply for the visa 3 months before entering the Republic of Korea.

- Foreigners intending to stay in Korea for more than 90 days after entry have to get an Alien Registration Card (ARC) from the Korea Immigration office, and multiple-entry will be allowed with the ARC and re-entry permit.
