The Embassy of Korea to Norway is pleased to announce the opening of the application for the 2025 Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) for Graduate Degrees as below.
Please refer to the attached Guideline for more information.
1. Eligibility
- Applicants under 40 years (born after September 1st, 1985) holding Norwegian Citizenship (Not eligible if the applicants or their parent hold Korean citizenship, including dual citizenship)
※ Not applied to R&D Program applicants
- Applicants must have obtained the required degree
2. Available Quota (Embassy Track)
- 2 (General 1 / Overseas Korean(including adoptee) 1)
3. Scholarship Period
- Master’s Degree Program : 3 years (1 year of Korean language program, 2 years of degree program)
- Doctoral Degree Program : 4 years (1 year of Korean language program, 3 years of degree program)
- R&D Program : 6 months or 1 year
4. Application
- Application Deadline : March 1st, 2025
- Documents to Submit : Please refer to the attached Guidelines
- How to Submit : Hand-in directly to the Embassy or by Post (ONE set of original documents + THREE sets of photocopies)
※ You may submit the documents to email(kornor@mofa.go.kr) except for the Letter of Recommendation if not all documents are ready by the deadline, but you MUST submit all documents in Hard Copy before the interview.

5. Important Notes
- Please read carefully the attached Guidelines
- ONE set of original documents as well as THREE sets of their photocopies must be submitted in Hard Copy
- The Application form must be filled in either English or Korean with the applicant’s original hand-written signature
- All required certificates must be apostilled or consular confirmed
- Documents written in Norwegian or languages other than English or Korean must be submitted with a certified translation
- Submitted documents MUST NOT be stapled but should be bound with paperclips
- Applicants can only apply among the universities and departments listed in the “University Information” file
- Applicants cannot choose more than one department from a single university
- Of the chosen universities, at least one university must be from Type B universities.
- 1) Applications with false information or 2) Applications which do not comply with the attached Guidelines will be rejected
6. Selection Timeline (Tentative)
- Notification of the Interview : 10th March / to individual email
- Interview : 12th March ~ 19th March / either in-person or online (through Zoom)
- 1st Round Result Announcement : 20th March / to individual email
- 2nd Round by NIIED : in late April
- 3rd(Final) Round by each University : in late May
