Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Korea to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

The Delegation of the Republic of Korea hosted the 2023 National Day Reception on Thursday, 5th of October.

Celebrating the 27th anniversary of South Korea's membership to the OECD membership, Ambassador, Mr. Sangdae CHOI, appreciated the close cooperation between Korea and the OECD over the years in his welcoming remarks.

Ambassador CHOI mentioned that the Korean government plans to continue its active role as a responsible member of the international community in response to global challenges, while also expanding its Official Development Assistance (ODA) volume to support developing countries.

In turn, the Secretary-General of the OECD, Mr. Mathias CORMANN, gave a congratulatory speech in which he highly commended Korea's remarkable transformation from one of the poorest countries into a developed country and expressed expectations for Korea's continuous contributions to the OECD as one of the most important cooperation partners.

About 200 people attended the reception, including Secretary-General CORMANN, officials of the OECD Secretariat, Ambassadors and diplomats.

In this occasion, the Delegation not only introduced Korean food, culture, traditional drinks and agricultural products but also promoted Korea’s Expo bid to gain support to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan.
