On 2 October, the Delegation of the Republic of Korea to the OECD hosted the 2025 National Day Reception.
In his welcoming remarks, Chargé d’Affaires Mr. Youngbae Choi, underlined the deep and enduring partnership between the Republic of Korea and the OECD over the years. Mr. Choi emphasised that, as Korea approaches the 30th anniversary of its accession to the OECD in 2026, the Delegation will explore new directions for future cooperation with the Organisation and encouraged continued engagement in next year’s celebratory events.
The Secretary-General of the OECD, Mr. Mathias Cormann, in his address, congratulated Korea’s National Foundation Day and highlighted the remarkable economic development achieved through public policies based on freedom, democracy, the rule of law and human rights. Mr. Cormann also expressed expectations that the strong partnership between Korea and the OECD will continue in the years ahead.
The reception welcomed more than 220 guests and featured Korean culinary highlights, including K-Bunsik (Korean-style street food), K-Dessert, and K-Sool (traditional Korean liquors), showcasing a wide range of Korean flavours. The event offered attendees both a rich gastronomic delight and a unique cultural experience.
