State-Owned Enterprises and Sustainability: Leading by Example
▣︎ The OECD published the report State-Owned Enterprises and Sustainability: Leading by Example, in September 2025. The OECD has consistently emphasised that State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) play a pivotal role in achieving sustainability goals, and accordingly, revised its OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises in 2024 to add a chapter on sustainability. As of 2023, 126 of the world’s top 500 companies are SOEs, accounting for 12% of the total global market capitalisation. This report provides practical guidance, based on the revised guidelines, for SOEs and their owner-governments to achieve greater sustainability. |
